I started a repair thread in general tractor section. It is giving me heck. Had to cut ball joint screw off but the assembly wont come off the hydraulic steering arm. They are seized. Tempted to try heat. Afraid of hurting hydraulic piston.

If you have a Harbor Freight close, stop in and purchase some ball joint tools.

Heading to harbor freight for some Tie rod tools, if they have them big enough for the tractor.

harbor freight, lowes, and Tractor supply. was looking for crowsfeet wrench. no dice. found a set of "service wrenches" that have the sizes I need. didn't have time to get under the tractor today’s because we have another shipping containe being delivered this week. I finished the pad with the excavator and spread the #3 stone . Thankfully, Jefanna had them dump the rock right next to where I was doing the pad so it was much easier. would have been near impossible to go back and forth from the regular spot without tractor. probably won't be able to work on the tractor till this weekend. But plan to follow advice and wrap the hydraulic ram with rags and keep them wet, while I heat the end to break the thread locker that is probably there. Got a flat tire on my commuter car. Jefanna is taking her Jeep to the shop because the traction control keeps coming on and preventing normal driving. She will take my tire with them to get a new one put on the rim. Excavator hasn't been charging batteries properly so I have had to pull them and charge each night so it's ready for use the next day. managed to fry/melt the connection cable that goes between the batteries . check engine light came on in the Truck. I'm on a roll.

Running behind a few weeks on editing. Trying desperately to get caught up.

Loved the recap of the build.

OK I jumped ahead to see this.
Did the electrical inspector test every outlet and every switch. When I was in NJ the electrical inspector said he plans on spending 2-3hrs on a final for a typical McMansion because he will be checking everything.

Now on the house I bought here in NC and rehabbed, the inspector just checked GFI's. In fact, there aren't separate inspectors here for plumbing, electric, building, HVAC. You can't call for a rough for electric, or plumbing because when they come out, they want to do one trip and for example, give a rough or a final for everything at once.

I was used to dealing with strict building departments back in Jersey. Coming down here in the county I am in has been a breeze. I did not even have to get a CO for all the work I did which was basically a gut. I asked the inspector and looked at me like I was talking Chinese. His explanation was that since the house is existing that means it already received a CO when it was originally built.

Am I allowed to say that I have been in construction for 3 years? I might get away with it jokingly. We are still walking around looking at the house in wonder. Night before last, after putting in our mailbox down the road, next to all the neighbors mailboxes, I sat on the tractor tire and drank a beer looking at the mountain. Just watching the sunlight disappear from the trees.
Yeaterday, when my workday ended I went down to the pond and fished. Caught about 10 bass and one very large panfish. Let them all go. A couple bass were keepers. One was 4-5 inches and went after a 2.5 inch lure. Best 2.5 hours I’ve wasted in years.

3years??
What year did you break ground? :)

Just finished reading this from the very start.
With all the video you have, you should look into selling rights for somebody to make this into a show on HGTV considering all the people out there who dream of building their own house. This would bring a lot of people back down to earth.

It is a good thing you had "crew" who were here on TBN to help you even if it wasn't physically on site.

It amazes me how you get so much variation in different building depts. Never could have gotten a CO back in Jersey in the townships I worked in. To the local code officials "done" means just that, you better be done before you call them for all those finals or they will be more than happy to slap "Big Red", (what me and my other contractor friends call a "fail" sticker) on your front window.

Very nice house, nice job, and congratulations.

Started this thread 6/5/2017 having just started breaking ground. 6 years to move in. Broke ground expecting fast approval of building permit, but that alone took 6 months. Keep in mind, I had to build 1/4 mile of road and a substantial bridge to reach the build site.
For questions on testing electrical he tested every outlet and light in every room in the house except the outlet in the attic that runs my Starlink router and dish. Along the way there have been multiple electric inspections and also several gas inspections. Every aspect of the build gets inspected here. They have changed the process and now I wouldn’t be able to do this. I would have to be licensed and They would push me to close out the build in 6 months

We still have tons to do but I feel so much less pressure.
