I'd heard that they installed an different ROPS with the backhoe, and now I've seen my first one. That really is a lot different looking than the standard B2150 ROPS.

Like Kevin, I don't think I've seen a ROPS quite like that one, but it's a good looking tractor, good pictures, and pretty country.

I'll try to get some shots of her in action this weekend. I did get some seat time on Monday by repairing part of an elderly neighbours drive. It had loads of holes so I used the FEL to pick up the fill and then dumped it, finishing off by backdragging. All of this I learned on TBN. I never realised that work could be so much fun /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Thanks for the complements Bird. It is the best time of year just coming up to summer, lots of wildlife around.

I have heard lots of mention about always using seat belts with ROPS, well over here they aren't available, even the new compact tractors don't have seat belts fitted /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif. I am looking at getting a new seat as there is a small hole in mine, this wouldn't normally be a problem apart from some rain must have got in there sometime and I end up with a wet rear /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif. I will try to find one so that I can fit a belt.

I think that the design of ROPS is different over here in general. I'm not sure but I think that the B2150 I looked at last year without a backhoe had the same ROPS. I may have a picture in a folder so I will check.

After attempting to do jobs outside by hand I quickly realised that I needed a proper tool for it. I have now added to the list as I realise that there are many more jobs that I can tackle. As it is quite steep in places with lots of large rocks I am certainly going to be very careful.

I had to wait a week before I could take some pictures as the rain just kept on coming down, but then we had a great weekend so I just had to take some pictures before getting her dirty. I think I will have to treat myself to a pressure washer, nothing too powerful don't want to do any damage /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

With that comment you reminded me of one feature of the FEL that I forgot to mention...the "Float" position. You may have already found it by now, but if you haven't, you take the FEL joystick, adjust the bucket roll where you want it (left/right movement), then move the joystick to its upper-most position. You should feel the joystick go into and lock into the "float" mode where the bucket will glide across the ground with no pressure other than basically the weight of the FEL bucket. Great for smoothing out dirt when you don't want the FEL to dig in. Works best when the tractor is going backwards.

I had found the "float" position thanks but you said that the joystick "locks", mine springs back to the "N" position, is that right? I did wonder about it as it has to go past the "down" position from float and if I went too slow the bucket pressed down.

There is a detent position that should hold the joystick in the "float" position. On my Deere, this is accomplished by pushing the stick forward (to it's limit), which should be lowering the loader arms. You should feel the stick going into the detent.
I'm assuming the raising and lowering of your loader is controlled by joystick fore-aft movement (as my tractor FEL is).
If you don't feel the detent when pushing forward, try other limits of the joystick travel...it may be different on your Kubota.
If you don't feel the detent at any limit of the stick travel, the detent springs may be worn out or missing...or your machine doesn't have a "float" position.

The FEL does have a "float" position but I had to hold the joystick in that position. I will try it again this weekend just to confirm but I'm sure it sprang back to the "N" position when I let it go.
