Kyle; Goldens are very special dogs. My wife had one for 11 years. My sisterinlaw has one. There is no dog like them. I couldn't stand to read all the replies to your post. They all reminded me of the dogs I've lost for one reason or another, all black Labs except for a Lab/Collie mix I lost 2 years ago. I'm sure many of you read about my Malamute that I almost lost a few months ago. It's really something howyou get attached to one another. At present I've 4 dogs, 2 black Labs, a bordercollie mix and my Malamute. One of the Labs is 13 years old. She doesn't do much but sleep and gets a little confused sometimes, but shes still a good dog. I'll miss each of them the same as I've missed the ones I've lost before. Get another one, it'll do you good. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Kyle, it took me a few days to even get the nerve to open your thread, because the death of a beloved dog always breaks my heart. I have three best friends (my dogs), and I've been were you are right now.

Even though I don't know you, and never knew Austey, I am shedding tears for you both right now as I type, with my three pals nuzzling me, wondering what upset me so. I really feel for you, and I understand what you're going through. I wish I could do something to help, but I can only offer my very sincere sympathies.

I don't have much to add besides my sincere condolences. I've been where you are and it hurt like heck. But, at the same time, there was a certain calm about seeing my good friend through (and certainly vice-versa) almost from "cradle-to-grave". I hope like me, in time you come to cherish the memories of days lived rather than be engulfed in the final day. As winter begins, I look forward to seeing my friend in each falling snowflake (she loved the snow)... Know that many are thinking of you and your family.

I think that all the thoughtful and caring replies is a testament to the folks on this board. Somehow, over the years, a common bond or "thread" (of tractors), has brought many good, decent, hardworking people together.

I can't wait to meet some of you at TxDon's place at the "bridge christening". If anyone can make it Lee County central Texas, please go to the Norte Texas thread and sign up....Kyle

PS- your replies have helped me out immeasurably, Everyone should give their pets an extra hug and treat for me.

I will get another Golden, I just need a bit of time to get moved into our new house on the land(if it ever stops raining).
I am even thinking of breeding dogs for which I will start a new thread.
