Wow! Great looking, not mention difficult, build. Fantastic job. The view from the guest quarters is amazing. Where do we sign up to be guests? :)

Are you using real shingles for the siding or one of the products that look like shingles, but are made of cement or plastic? I love the look of cedar shingles, but I'm not a big fan of maintaining them, or replacing them.

Eddie

I tried real western cedar clapboards on our last house. Beautiful wood, but it's a maintenance headache if you want to keep it looking nice. Power washing with bleach or fungicide, sealing, re-stain with a 'natural cedar' clear tint.

We have enough humidity and wet weather, it would always get little black specks of mold or fungus eventually. In a heavy rain that would rinse down and leave gray/charcoal streaks below the windows.

The house was 40' by 44' and 2 1/2 stories tall, not a small job.

I finally put a Cabot mostly opaque stain on it, about the same color as the fungus

Never again, I have just plain vinyl now.

Here are some of the guys putting more of the siding on. All the trim boards are Azek and I'm painting them to match the vinyl and the cedar on the house. I love the Certainteed siding, although the crew did not have a lot of experience with this line and it took them awhile to get all the tabs and nailing fins all lined up. I took a lot of ribbing and I had to hear some whining. Family will let you know!!

The sun peaked out on Saturday night and rewarded us with the rainbow in the left side of the photo.

More siding of the cheek walls, the toughest, cuz of all the angles.

Me following behind them painting the trim, taking advantage of the staging.

Here is a shot of myself and the guys.

More of each side. The 8X16 door will be installed late this week.

I have more trim paint work and a lot of landscaping to do over the next couple of weeks.

What is the size of the I-Joists?

14" I Joists 12" on ctr.

I'm told it was a little overkill and I'll never have to worry about what I put upstairs or have any bounce.

I'll second that ! great job!!!! and you added to the picturesque setting ,not detracted from it. A hard thing to achieve with such a beautiful area.

Some had asked that I post some finished photos and I'm still working on a time lapse video, here are some ALMOST finished shots. I still have to buy more insulation and OSB for the walls, and still have to do some more organizing.
