Pulled a 7x14 enclosed with a couple motorcycles in it with a 2013 F150 Supercab STX/5.0 for about a 2400 mile round trip. Be glad that you didn't buy one. I traded mine on an F250/6.2 as soon as I got home from that trip.
I've been a Ford guy forever. But gotta admit that I really like the looks of the RAM 2500's. Lately I've heard it said that you can buy a similarly optioned F250 for the same or even less money than a F150. Apparently due to the fact that the 150 is so popular Ford doesn't have to discount as much to sell them. To me, the 150 is giving you less truck for the same or more money.
My last two Trucks were Fords F250 super duty and a F150 both were fine trucks.I kept my F150 for my tooling around/work truck.I bought the dodge cheaper ($3,000-$3500)with about the same options of the F150 lariat super crew cab. Pics of my ford 2011 super duty.

I've literally had well over a dozen F150's, my first one being a 1973 (that might have even been an F100!) in 1981. My last F150 just wasn't getting it done for my uses with the 5.0. It got 8-9 MPG on the trip that I mentioned and spent most of that trip in 4th gear. I figured if I was going to get 3/4 ton mileage, I was going to drive a 3/4 ton truck.
Same trip, larger trailer and add a Harley trike to the same load as previously hauled and the 250 actually did about 1 MPG better. I also have a 6x12 CAM Superline dump trailer that I haul occasionally. It does much better with that when I have 4-5 tons of stone on than the F150. But of course I'd expect that.
This year I've added a little larger tire and 5 Star Tuning tunes for 87 octane economy and 87 octane tow. We'll see how it goes when I leave for Florida tomorrow with 7x18 trailer and 4 Harleys in it, along with luggage for 4 in the truck bed with tonneau.
As I said before, your new RAM is a nice looking truck. Keep us updated on how things progress with it.

I've heard similar sentiments many times concerning the F150 5.0L. Less than expected ability and economy.

Salesman friend says Ford's highest profit margin is the F150.

I have no complaints about the 5.0L in my F150 so far. This thing runs circles around the 2007 Sierra 5.3L I had before. And gets much better mileage to boot.

Cool!!!! Glad it's working for you. Makes that investment taste a lot better when that happens. :)

I certainly wasn't denying their useability. I don't have one. Just expressing what I normally hear at the local dealership where my Sons work.

That's why they make the different models I guess. Everyone has a different use and driving style. As stated, I've owned tons of F150's over the years, so I always liked them a lot. I guess the time had come for me to move on due to differing uses than the past.

You are correct about the investment Richard. When I first started looking, I built one online to be comparable to the 07 Sierra....... It was over 50K!!!! I quickly started removing things, leather, dual zone climate, etc... This is the first vehicle I have owned to not have leather seats in decades. Car prices are crazy high.

Trailers are for boats and tractors..... not motorcycles...:) Mine has been on a trailer once in its life due to cam chain tensioners going south while on a trip to Arkansas...

Mine's an 2003 F250 XLT. Still more steel that rust... But not by much. My thought for when the frame goes was maybe to fly to a Southern metro area like Atlanta, buy a used truck that a yuppie used to haul his golf clubs, and drive it back. Dumb idea?
