Oh you are going to have FUN sawing that one. Boards, posts, beam(s) or a combination?

What did they use to load that log onto the trailer?

12 foot 2x6s. I had to roll it off the trailer and cut it in 12&1/2 feet. Telehandler still at the repair shop. Tractor wouldn't lift one end of the full log. Cut in half. Tractor grapple picked up smaller end and moved it to stack. Grapple would not curl the bigger one. Had to drag it to the stack.

I also whittled the large end of that monster down with the chain saw, because at 38 inches, it wouldn't fit on my 36 inch wide sawmill. Gotta let it sit a bit to dry out some.

John Deere 120 excavator. New operator. At one point moving it, he swung it to the side and put the excavator up on one track.

It is way better than I ever thought. With the right angle of the bucket, clay rolls off the blade like a dozer's blade. I only catch and cut the roots with the center of the blade reinforced by the bucket's teeth.

That is a great idea!

Good to see you are still at it! Hope things go well this summer!
Thanks 25cent score!
Oh, I can't wait for summer and getting hot and drinking pickle juice to stop muscle cramps from getting too hot.

Price your lumber like the lumber yard and there should be enough 2x4s in that "toothpick " to pay for the mill !!
The mill has been paid for going on 4 years now.

I took the backhoe off of my tractor so I could use the landplane in helping out with the sawmill shed pad. But I miss the weight of the backhoe. I don't like curling a log off of a trailer and getting that "my butt is floating" feeling.

So I cut a Red oak down to 9 feet and squared in up to a 15 inch square. My calculations and the seat of my pants say the landplane now weighs about what the backhoe does.

I have that same landplane, but in brown (bought it at a Kubota/Land Pride dealer).

Is your 7' or 8'? Hard to tell in the pic. Mine is the 7'. Wish I had an 8'

CT,
The key to the width was in the caption.:ninja: The Red Oak is 9 feet wide, a little wider (second photo) than the landplane at 8 feet.;) Where are you located in LA.?

I was reading this in the earlier hours of the day. My context clues were not on point! Though using your tractor as a gauge, I knew it was at least 7'.

Well howdy neighbor!
Yeah, I wanted it wide enough to cover the rear tires. Lower gears are a must.

I think I got the sawmill shed pad leveled. I will find out when my concrete guy stops by with his rotary laser.

Now I have decided to take out more trees behind it so I can have more room to drive behind it. So the CAT will get to do more tree carnage with its 28 inch digging bucket.
