My PT 1430 journey of resurrection

Ok, quick update. New tires mounted, got a new battery. Currently working on bucket repair . Have to get a new air comp so I can paint. More to come!
FWIW: I have the ingersoll sls-3l and it has worked well for me for 15+ years. It just runs and runs. I use the air mostly for blowing out the oil coolers on for Deutz and PT hydraulics, and some impact tools and a fair amount of die grinder usage. I also use it for plasma cutting, with some secondary filtration, but I do not know that I can tell the difference of the added filtration. After five years or so, I put in an intercooler made from a power steering radiator, and a 12V AC fan, a 12V power supply and an auto drain coalescing filter that pulls off 95+% of the water. I no longer have visible water from the tank drain, and only the occasional few drops out of my main coalescing filter placed before the air goes into the piping.

All the best,

Peter

So here’s the 1430 just about ready for paint. Now that tires are on & I got a battery, I’ll go power wash this thing and get after it!!! Thanks for the advice on extras on an air compressor ! Yeah, started on some paint. But she’s gonna be caterpillar yellow. Just like the 988f I used to run.

Cat makes great paint, so you really can't go wrong there!

Let us know if you decide to upgrade the engine to a 3408 and matching wheel motors.;) I will get the popcorn going.

All the best,

Peter

Now all you need is a Caterpillar logo.

Reinstalled trim. Still need to touch up a few places. Especially bolt heads. Now to tackle a seat.
Thanks for the replies, advice, and support of this forum!!!!

@Poppy7094 Looks really nice!

How many coats of the Cat paint(s) did you put on? (Primer? Light? Heavy?)

All the best,

Peter

Alrighty then, took your advice & sent that sucker off for rebuild by power trac. Great advice! Thank you so much. Can’t wait til it gets back. In the meantime, off to do some more work on the machines.

Just curious about how much did it cost you with shipping?

1 coat so far. Kinda heavy. I lack some touchups though but it’s gonna work

Well my pigtail from junction box to engine finally had enough wiring rot and the spades failed. Had to order a new pigtail so more to come after it comes in

Btw, I’ve posted a few “shorts” videos on YouTube under Poppy7094 and the search of PT 1430. There’s a few videos posted there of what I’ve done so far. I ain’t no professional YouTuber so bear with the raw unedited footage 🤣😆🤪😜😂

@Poppy7094 that is a nice looking paint job that I am sure will turn a few heads, and perhaps cause some head scratching by CAT aficionados.:ROFLMAO:
Here's a pair of Poppy's videos for those looking;
