I don't know what is worse, the owner who told you to mow it or the folks on here who've never actually retrieved a piece of equipment from a precarious situation telling you how to get it unstuck. If you're depending upon some of this advice to get you out, you're in deep trouble.

I have no input just be safe and good luck.

What he said, but in addition, STAY SAFE!! (and let us know what worked and what did not).

Did you have any luck today?

I've read the whole thread from beginning to end...
I've never been in this exact situation but I have many years sitting on a tractor...
I think that getting another tractor like you are doing is the best solution...
I would unhook the hog and lift and pull the hog with both tractors and FEL's if possible...
I am truly sorry for your bad experience...
Please keep us posted on the outcome and good luck...

Lucky you werent going forward! That would have been a bad time.

Are you sure the sinkhole goes under the tractor? That changes things up a bit.

If it doesnt, Id chain up the mower to a nearby tree, then try to drive out. Then pull the mower out from a distance.

A larger excavator would likely be what Id prefer to get out of there if I was bringing in equipment. You could crane out the mower, then pull the tractor or even use it to lift and support the rear end of the tractor if you think the ground is bad under the rear. A large enough ex, something in the 220 class could pick the whole tractor.

If there is any doubt about the ground under the tractor, Id go with the ex.

I read to the 4th page of this thread before I realized this is happening right now. I was tense before and now the tension is palpable. My wife and I are both hoping to see a new post from you saying all is well.
I'll follow this thread tomorrow looking for good news from you. Good luck friend.

Hello All,

I wasn't going to post anymore about this, however it was brought to my attention that doing so might be inconsiderate.

A friend and I did get it out today. I'll post the pictures along with the rest of the story tomorrow.

You seem to have a problem with my opinions , Oh well , I'm sure we are from different generations or you would understand my gruff matter of fact posting style .To each his own ,But I have NEVER left a piece of equipment stuck anywhere I would stay with it until it was home or totaled beyond repair and that has never happened , I just can't wait to see the pictures of the 12 ft deep tractor swallowing sink hole . I'm happy for him that it all worked out and it's home safe and sound .

So if you had a piece of equipment stuck to where it was obvious that it couldn't get out under its own power, it was close to dark and you needed a friend with a bigger piece of equipment to pull you out, but the friend couldn't help till the next afternoon, you would keep trying (possibly breaking things) even though the friend would be out the next afternoon?
Seems like a foolish way to do things, but if that's what you want to do with your equipment, more power to you.
