My War on Poison Ivy

Need something for the dogs and cats! I think I get more poison oak from them running around, then coming up and wanting pets and belly rubs!

There is a product called "Mean Green" which has the same ingredients as Zanfel, but comes in quart size jars. It is sold as a hand scrub, but will do the same as Zanfel. Price per ounce is much better than Zanfel.

I received a flier for a book of home made remedies and one was to use very salty water and some dish soap to spray the leaves.
I don't know how well it works or how long it will take.

Not sure if I remember this thread from last year, didn't go back & re-review it all. We all know the weed killers work by absorbing into the leaves, however the waxy/oil on the leaves keeps this from happening. Adding the extra surfactant to the (weed killer) mix, use a mix of DAWN dish soap for oil/grease or diesel fuel as the liquid will penetrate the waxy oil on the leaves much better than just water & weed killer.

Same for symptoms of P.I. or P.O. it is best to "Prevent" it getting to you first, there are products on market called "Invisible Glove" which is a lotion that is wiped on and acts like a latex glove. Use that first, then use lots of layers of clothing, gloves etc.

Clean up
Peel off each layer and drop into garbage bag for washing at commercial laundry so you don't contaminate the house washer. Then jump into COLD WATER shower with DAWN Grease remover dish soap. Scrub two time then use hot water and dawn followed with some skin lotion to put back some of the natural oil in your skin.

Any tools you used be sure to wash them off with HOT water and DAWN or similar degreaser soap. Follow up with a coat of WD40 & light oil to prevent rust.

Guess I wasn't real clear on my intent. I plan to drill into the vine using a 12" long drill bit near the base like the OP, then place the Glyphosate filled pipettes in the hole rather than feeding the herbicide with a syringe

This will kill it. I had vines as big as my arms on some property I bought. I drilled holes in the vines (I couldn't get to the top of the trees to spray) and every few days I would fill the holes with straight Glyphosate. By By poison ivy/oak

I can get pi blisters just from thinking about it.....
I itch already.....
When I was a kid and got pi, my mom would dab on Milk of Magnesia. It seems to help dry it out. The best approach is to stay away, If that is not possible, then the Dawn wash or alcohol wash seems to help if done very soon after contact.

I have cut large stalks in the winter when I was well protected and painted the stump with roundup. That worked. My guess is, in the summer while the plant is active, you could paint the stalk for about 3 ft" all the way around with roundup and it would work. Spraying the leaves will also work but only if you can easily get to the leaves without spraying something else.

If you cut large stems with a saw, I suggest you not use a chainsaw as the sawdust might go everywhere. Just a suspicion.
