I guess that's a good thing. I have a 09 L5240 and I've had a couple of situations when I needed her help while I was trying to attach and implement or load something in the back of the truck. She hops up on it, presses the pedal and it dies. I've tried moving the seat all the way forward and it still dies. She only weighs 105 lbs so I guessing its the safety switch on the seat? Has anyone else ran it to this problem? Its not worth her gaining weight just so she can move the tractor around for me.

That would be my first guess. Cant think of anything else it could be if it works fine when your on it. On another note....I would use this as an opportunity to earn some "brownie points" with the wife. I think I would have to say to her "Well honey, this tractor aint used to a beautiful bodied person sittin on it....its more used to my big Butt bouncing on it which has probably broken something. This tractor just cant handle a sexy woman being on it...I'm gonna have to get it fixed"

Get a front mounted weight and sit it on the seat did that for my wife when I let her out of the kitchen.

I had this exact same problem, though would only cut out if moving around some. If it's because of the same reason I had, and suspect yours is, she just doesn't have quite enough weight to fully depress the seat down and activate the seat switch. You can verify by adding just a bit of weight by pressing on the seat back with your hand while she's sitting there.
Here's what I did. My wife uses these little bumper things all the time on the bottom of vases and other stuff to protect furniture.
I tried a thicker one first, but then it kept the switch pressed all the time and I didn't want that. I ended up using the very thinnest one (about 1/16 inch thick) and it worked great. If the seat is unoccupied the seat safety switch still works as it should. But now it no longer cuts out. I stuck it on the seat bottom right where the switch will hit the seat bottom (when the seat presses down from sitting on the seat.)
The seat is lifted up vertically here. You can see the little bumper thing stuck on the seat where the switch hits.

You should be able to just adjust the spring for her weight and slide the seat forward. Same thing happens with my 11 year old son. He is less than 100 lbs.
Maybe a second (auxilliary) wife? Can you replace or change the position of the seat support springs? Please don't circumvent the seat safety switch. Wives with that size are extremely hard to find and worth their weight in gold. Really !

Kubote Grand L series have 2 safety switches. By flipping the seat (no operator on the tractor), you can use the PTO. That switch is visible under the seat and shut down the engin if the PTO is on and the oprtator leaves the seat. The other switch is inside the seat. It detects the operator presence and allow to move the tractor. I had a problem with that switch on my L3540 HST. When mowing the field, the motor kept bogging down when I hit bumps. It was not a question of weight, beleive me (I weight probably more then twice ka41's wife). I tried to disassemble the seat to find the switch but I could'nt to it with the tools I had with me. I submitted the problem to my Kubota dealer (tractor was no longer under warranty) and he suggested to unplug the connector for that switch and put a jumper in it. I did just that but I regret it. Lately, the motor was running and I stood on the side of the tractor. I mistakenly touch the speed lever (the one used to maintain steady speed in the field) and the tractor began to move. I had time to place it back in the neutral position but I could have found myself in trouble. The switch I bypassed would have prevent it by shutting the motor down. Conclusion, ka41's seat switch might be broken or will soon break and he will face the same issue I hade with mine: Putting a low cost bypass or going through the trouble and the $$$ to repair it.

I had the same issue. It is a pain in the neck poor design. The switch is inside the seat.
I had the dealer replace the seat under warranty. It didn't help.
The only thing you can do is jumper it, but that leads to other issues and just isn't safe.
It stinks that they make a nice tractor and then there are some things that just don't make sense.

Short term.....Fill all her pockets with rocks or lead shot. Long term.....start feeding her more. Kidding aside......jumper the switch. Nice that she helps you....my wife won't get on the tractor.

My wife had the same issue and I didn't say it but hers is big enough. I think it has more to do with the shape of a woman's arse than size. When she went to check out the L3940 before they delivered it, she hopped on and every time she hit the pedal it would die. The mechanic and the owner were in the shop and they messed with for a few minutes and still nothing. Finally the owner whispered to the mechanic to disconnect the switch inside the seat and turned us and said you didn't anything.

Rather than disconnect/ by-pass the switch, why not tap into each of the 2 wires and run them to a push button contact switch she could hold down while moving the tractor for you? I have been thinking of doing this very thing so I can stand up on ocassion to see the tip of my pallet forks when trying to get through a pallet setting on the ground at a weird angle.
