Where do you buy your paint??? I have a Farmall 140 that I want to "restore" this winter and I bought the enamel at TSC. I know, it's not as good as automotive paint, but I'm not going to spend $500.00 to paint a tractor that I'm going to use. If it were a trailer queen then maybe.

Chris

Don't know where SG gets his paint, but I'm restoring a 1951 Minneapolis Moline BF tractor

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...62478-mid-mount-milimeter-bf-restoration.html

and got the grey primer, the cherry red and the prairie gold paint from Equipment Color

http://www.equipmentcolor.com/.

I use the AIC acrylic enamel with the AIR10 reducer and a $40 HVLP sprayer from Harbor Freight. Equipment Color has most of the old and newer tractor colors in their product line. It's not the most expensive tractor paint, but it's not the cheapest either.

Good luck with your restoration. I have a 1951 Farmall Super A that's scheduled for the paint shop after the MM BF is out of there.

TSC 30$ a gallon paint plus hardner ( all valspar ) I use the regular.. not the restoration quality.

it's been tooth and nail. this is by far the roughest one I've worked on in terms of abuse. dozens of broiken bolts and studs.. bad pto.. loose 3pt lift arm studs.. NO charge system.. just a few ratty burned up wires and switches and a battery and a pulley cobbled in place of a gen or alt.

bad tires up fron.. loose and mismatched front hubs.. thought the axles were damages when i saw repair nuts ont hem.. but threads look decent..

rear power adjsut rims welded solid all the way around :( AND adjusted differently each side???????!!!

every kind of goober fix like brazing and welds... ruined sheet metal except I salvaged the doglegs..e tc..

front bolster is pretty worn.. but it steers..

tough love case for sure.. :)

looking nice what color or u painting the lug nuts

like I mentioned before.

those front and rear rims are not staying on the tractor.. they are coming off for a winter restoration. the rear rims are PA and some goober welde dthem up solid.

thus I left the rims on to hold the tractor up so i could paint it. way better than jack stands..

I have a spare set of rubber and rims leaning against the fence that are going on that machine.

yep.. for sure the nuts will be painted.. and I agree.. I have no clue as to why someone welde dup the PA rims. there is no rust on them.. and aside from 1 single keeper missing.. the rims look solid.. all the guy with the welder did was near ruin them...
