New rim, new tires ... if, she's going to have a new dress, she might as well have some new sneakers! Surprisingly, I believe the new tires, tubes and rim were made in the USA! The old tires have plenty of tread, but one has a repaired sidewall puncture and the other has the bad rim and sidewall checking. Both of the old tires would probably last a good while. But, ............

Sat. up-date:

The weather is getting colder and painting is getting harder to get a good result.
I ended up having to get two new rims, fortunately one of the salvage yards, fairly close to me, had them. Even though, I had to make the 1 hour trip (one way), twice!

I've added my restoration purchases, to date (hopefully the bulk of costs). That number came to >>>>>>>>> $2778.00 !!

One more painting hitch, should take care of the painting.

3-1/2 hours later:
Air filter plumbed, gas tank adjusted, tires on. I think, I can see the end of the tunnel! :) It looks more like a tractor, again.

Hey Zombie! Thanks! Fortunately, the project looks like it may have an end, "someday" in the not too distant future. I managed to get the final "gray parts" painted today.

Looks real good so far. Old tires didn't look too bad maybe you can sell them to offset some of the cost.

Thanks! Old tires had plenty of tread, but were old. The left one had a sidewall repair from a steel rod that went through it, while I was brush hogging for the local recreation park. The right one wasn't as bad, but when they changed it, they said "it was junk". I had put it on Craig's List prior, and when I got home from picking up the newly mounted tires, I got a phone call on it. Supposedly, it was a disabled vet, who needed a tire ... I referred him to the dealer, who changed my tires. Don't know, if he picked it up or not.

My tires were the least expensive I could locate. I got them through my Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. They were "blems" at $275, with $20 off ($255 each), since I had to travel to get them. They were made in the US ... "American Farmer".

Wow that's really cheap. I've been looking for a set of tires for mine but they are r4 and really spendy it seems.

Interim up-date:
Almost done, have the lights to assemble and script on the hood and fenders to do, yet. I had hand painted the script last time, but it didn't seem like it was going to turn out as well this time.

I did take a couple pix, ... one of a rig, which I had used on the old draft/lift arms to hold the stay bars (I could use a couple new stay bars!) and the other which is somewhat similar, to something I saw at a fair to hold the top link, when not using. ... otherwise, it beats up the back of the tractor (may need some modification, yet?).

The sheet metal was a pain! It isn't exactly virgin and has quite a few repairs.

10/9 The first thing, I'm going to do today, is grind the welds off the top link and redo them, using my other glasses and more heat. (A digital camera seems to make all flaws look worse!)

The "Honeymoon" is over!
I didn't get the script done, yet. I tried a couple of different methods, but didn't get the results I wanted, so I'll get the decals. Two of the lights aren't working, due to no grounds, on account of the paint. I'll get back to that .... I had work to do! :)

I graded a small area, next to a small addition, I'm adding. I learned that the lack of loaded tires makes a difference in that situation. And I learned that the new tires, can pick up a rock about the size of your head and take it all the way around!
