just received the new camera this afternoon(olyumpus c750) have spent the rest of the day messing with it, a lot of nice features, but still need some time to work with it, but it is $$$ well spent. the 10x optical is amazing!! hard to hand hold at that zoom but that is why i have tripods or brace myself . amazing!!!!!
Frank, I'm not very familiar with the Olympus digitals. My only camera I have right now is an old Olympus OM1, a super camera and one of my all time favorites. At DPReview.com, they mentioned that sales of digital cameras to hit 53 million. Canon, Sony, Olympus, Fuji and Kodak will make up 75% of that market.
I've got the 740 and love it - get a 55mm "barrel" for it. It screws on over the existing lens, takes standard filters, or additional lens', and makes it easier to hold the camera. I got it primarily to protect the Oly lens from scratches etc. If I scratch the filter it's $12 - can't imagine what a new camera lens would cost. I found it on the net .... I'll have to look it up for ya - but you should be able to find it easy enuff - I ain't much of a net shopper so if I found it - it should be an obvious site.
It's not a foldable rubber hood - it's a metal tube that screws on a ring that's part of the body but quite a bit larger than the lens part - kind of an oversize collar around the zoom lens that accepts the 55mm tube - you can then screw standard filters etc on the end of this tube... I called it a barrel 'cause that's kinda what it is - open on both ends - screws onto the camera body - and accepts 55mm stuff on the other end. -- (Notice I'm not a big camera guy) - but I like the zoom for taking pics of the grandkids when they don't know it - got some good ones at our easter egg hunt last spring - and I like it that I can point and shoot otherwise 'cause I know nuttin about shutter speeds and stuff.
i am confused? the lens on the C750 is threaded and somewhere i got the impression it is 52mm although i can;t find it in the specs. i do want a uv filter(mainly to protect the lens) guess i will have to do more research or just got to a camera shop and see what fits.
The lens on my UZ2100, forefather of your C750, is 49 mm. I got a 49-55 mm step-up ring in order to add a clear lens protector and my 1.7x telephoto lens. If you use a plastic snap in lens protector, don't goret to get a 55 mm one while you're at the camera store.
