MIKE: looking at the accessorie book that came with the camera i see where they have different step up rings all stepping up to 55mm. why did they just not make the threads 55mm? guess i will have to call to get it straight. but other than that the C750 is one fine camera. the 10x (optical zoom ) is great. attaching photo of a clear cut in my woods taken with the older digicam at full zoom,(3x optical)the next will be with new camera at 10x optical

Good question. I imagine it had something to do with the lens optics or a desire to keep the camera as small as possible? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif At any rate, a 49 - 55mm step up ring solves the problem. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Here's a picture taken with my UZ2100 using no zoom.

Here's a picture taken with my 1.7x telephoto lens with the UZ2100 at 10x. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The 10x is the primary reason I bought this camera several years ago. There's some blurring on this picture, since in such low light, there's only so much Image Stabillization and ASA 400 can do for ya! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif The only thing I don't like about the latest generation of Olympus high optical zoom cameras is they got rid of Image Stabilization that my UZ2100 has. It's really needed at high zoom, that or the use of a triopod/monopod.

I haven't seen a 750 - but my 740 is just like a 730 -- maybe the 750 is totally different. If you go to adorama.com, select digital, and under cameras&accessories select lens accessories, then on the right select olympus & lens adapters - you'll find the tube I'm talking about. I put that on and the zoom moves inside of it and is never exposed to dirt etc & I have a UV on it - but could put any 55mm filter I want on it. The female receptacle it screws into is outside the movable lens ... hope this explains a little better

Check this out, just hit the streets this week...

link

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10 is the industry's first 4-megapixel consumer digital camera with a 12x optical zoom. The high precision Leica 12x zoom is equivalent to a 35 - 420mm zoom with F2.8 brightness throughout the entire zoom range. Panasonic's advanced MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) enhances the camera's telephoto zoom capabilities, helping to deliver sharp, vivid images even when taking handheld telephoto shots or shooting in low light. This feature uses motion sensors, which detects even slight hand movement and integrally links the lens control to the motion of the camera to reduce jitter.

Incredibly responsive, the DMC-FZ10 captures consecutive shots nearly as quickly as a motor-driven film camera.

Wow so much for lag with a digital!

About $550-600

I think this one just jumped to the top of my list.
What do you think?

yeh mike i knwe that before i bought it, don't know why they would have gotten rid of stabilizer? but i found that even tho the camera sheems to shake at 10x if it is not a long ex. u can get a decent photo . nice photos btw.

mike: know where on the lens or in the specsheet does it give the thread size on this camera, called tech support and they say i need n adaptor CLA-4 which will attach to lens and give me the ability to use any 55mm filter. not sure if i can use a step up ring. that would be to simple /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i beleive the C750 i basically the same as yours, just more mp and sone other features(hot shoe for external flash). and the tube u linked for me is the exact one they say i need , my question is that is 45.5mm-55mm, why not just put a standard thread on the camera? unless they need to move the filters out from the lens, so they make u get a tube to extend it out?
