We have a Kubota B2910 which has a single adjustable, ratcheting side link.

This thing has broken on me twice now ... largely because Kubota chose to make one of the component parts out of inferior cast metal.

Unfortunately, Kubota does not offer the single part that breaks as a separate item for purchase ... you must buy the entire barrel ... which is rather pricey (around $70 IIRC)

And of course it comes with another piece of cheap cast metal on the part that is prone to failure.

So I'm looking for someone who can do a one-off out of mild steel.

Should be fairly easy I would think for some who has the proper equipment (a mill)

I can supply the pieces of one of the broken ones for reference.

The part is the lower case for the ratcheting mechanism in the following image and is marked (called out) with an "A" (on the left side, just above the "A" in a circle which refers to a different part)

Any takers ?

My guess is that the boss to attach #90/80 breaks off from the bottom in use. Don't see threads other than for 3 ea #110. Only trick might be to tweak fit/clearance for the pawl & spring (B & C) and what appears to be a c'bore for the gear.

I might mill from flat stock and weld on boss/clevis for the swing-out handle. (Pipe wrench isn't fun or good for the paint on the barrel (50), is it?)

A sample part (broken ok) or well-dimensioned sketch (see par 1) should be enough to work from.

I'd have a go at it if nobody else is anxious to. (... 'on some days it rains')

btw, No CNC here. No rush, no charge, .. no paint.

A generous offer! I applaud you!

If you could post a couple pictures of the actual part it would help. I might be able to do it, but I would ask you to pay return shipping.

Thanks for the kind offers ...

oldgrind: fortunately I've never had to use a pipe wrench on it ... I usually just adjust the tension on the 3PH until there isn't any load and turn it by hand.

I can also provide the (I think intact) cover plate (70) that gives the exact outline.

4570man - On the shipping: but of course ... ;)

Lemme get to the shop and snap a couple of pics and stick them up here.

I could probably whip something up if I have something close to the right size on my steel rack.

Whats the width and thickness of barstock needed to start with? 1/2" x 3"? 3/4" x ???? That way I can see what I have.

LD1,

Didn't see your post until after I came back down to the house for the evening.

I'd have to measure to be sure, but I'd guess that the basic plate (without the shoulders with the holes for the pin for the handle) would be covered by a piece of 3/8" x 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" barstock. If the shoulders are included, it's probably 1 inch thick. Probably should have taken a photo of the other side of the broken part but it didn't occur to me at the time.

Also have the old barrel that I can send if need be, although it does weigh a few pounds:
