okay this gets away from suspension modifications but believe it or not it this clam exercise has help my hip and lower back pain.

My daughter went to physio and they gave her this exercise.

I do twenty each side every day and it has been more effective then towels stuffed behind my back, rest, losing weight..... anyway worth a try, eh? I will be 66 in April the specialist wanted to fuse my back in three places in 1989, I am not blowing smoke, nobody knows back pain unless they have been there. Good luck!

Thanks! I really started hitting the rehab hard the past few weeks before my appendectomy, but plan to start again once the surgeon clears me. These were one of the exercises I started to incorporate along with various spine safe core work, glute bridges, etc.

How long did it take for you to notice and effect from the exercises if you don't mind me asking.

it works pretty quick for the lower back, for me that is, my cousin is doing them too. We are both old HVAC guys and need all the help we can get, lol. He swears by them as well.

So, I'm not old but any stretch of the imagination (37), I have had off and on lower back issues since I was in college due to lifting, but never too bad. I injured it this fall pretty bad and am still recovering/rehabbing. Not sure I will get to 100%, but I have improved. Anyways, my Gravely Promaster 148z is quite rough as most Zero Turns with no suspension are. I have a pretty rough 1.25 acres to mow, and I was hoping to add a suspension seat. However, the factory Gravely suspension seats aren't made for my model, and most of the suspension platforms I've found online aren't very close in bolt pattern.

Living on 25 acres (in the middle of my parents 200+), I have the need for a tractor, even though my dad has a JD990, and was considering just selling the ZTR for a B series to be a jack of all trades gap filler. Right now, my yard has a few spots that I won't take the ZTR, but a tractor is fine, so that would also be a plus. I think the BX will be too small (although probably the better mower), but before I go tractor shopping, I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a good aftermarket suspension seat? I've also toyed with selling the mower, and buying another one with a suspension seat and larger deck (one complaint I have with the 48" deck now is the lack of edging trim).

Thoughts?
Deflate a basket ball. Put it under your seat. Sit on your seat and put some air in the ball. Poor man’s air suspension. You will have to experiment with the amount of air.

I put a suspension seat on my ztr and I also use one of these cushions. Between the two of them it helps. I tried one of the new toro ztr mowers at the local shop, they have a new approach to seat suspension. The seat kind of hangs like a backyard swing, that felt really good. You might shop around and look at newer model mowers, they probably all have made improvements in seat comfort.

Make sure that you check the seat on any tractor you are considering, some do not have any suspension on them.

My son bought a new toro with my ride suspension , it is awesome , tried to trade him for my bad boy. no go, I bought a suspension platform for under the seat , it works very well.

MY solution for my BX2330 tractor was to buy the optional adjustable ride Gravely seat. Bought it last year new on Ebay for about $450. Here is the picture of it on the kubota. The small tractor also is my winter snow machine (drop the belly mount mower and install front blade and rear box blade). That seat does not feel cold when I drop down into it and it is 5 degrees out here in Colorado. The material on the seat has a really nice feel to it. I think a better material than the Grammer. It is really comfortable and my back is happy again. Also I put an air ride Grammer seat on my Kubota L4400. Worth every penny. Fields are very rough and all I ever do is mow them. These seats help reduce the pounding on the back.
