Need convertible parts help.

I ve got a problem with my brothers 1994 Cutlas Supreme convertible. Hes broke the pivot from the end of his convertible lift cylinder. It was cast aluminum with a plastic bushing. I took the other one loose and unscrewed it from the lift cylinder to make the part in the shop but its too small to chuck in my oversized lathe. None of the shops here want to tackle it either. I havent had any luck with GM as they discontinued the parts. At this point id like to buy the cylinders and all if I have to. the part number is 12521735. That was from the parts manul that came with the car. I cant belive this little part is so hard to find i figured as much as it cost to retool for a job that it would be a carried over part. I replaced the lift cylinders on my '68 Plymouth Satellite several years ago. Ordered them from an ad I saw in Hemmings Motor News. If you are not familiar with that, you can buy it on any news stand - - comes out monthly, I think. It has just about everything automotive for sale. Or at least it did back around 1990 when I replaced my cylinders.

I just did some "custom body work" on my Nissan when I pronged another vehicle. I was surprised that the body shop had nationwide contacts for auto parts from suppliers that specialized in used parts. A good local body shop might be able to put you onto something in an auto recycler somewhere in the country. If you have no luck through Hemmings, since your Olds is fairly new, you might locate an Oldsmobile club on the internet and they may have sources of specialized parts. Your's was not a high volume model, but auto recyclers might have what you need.
