I'm going back down in 3 weeks to plant some fruit trees, white pines for privacy screen, etc. Hopefully one of my friends will have gotten my new wheel motors installed by then -- if not, I may end up working on the PT all week, instead of working with the PT... :( Or, if not, hauling it 900 miles back up here so I can do the install myself this summer. With $3-plus gasoline, I would look forward to trailering it 900 miles! He was supposed to start the project about a month ago, so it would be done and ready for me to test drive, but got called for jury duty instead which has taken all his time...:confused:

I replaced one wheel motor and I think it took no more than an hour. Even if your changing all four, I don't think you will spend more than a day. Are you doing an upgrade? I assume all the motors are not bad. You probably already explained and I missed it. If so I apologize.

Yep, putting on four new 21.7ci CharLynn S series (with HD seals and low-speed valving). There's some grinding needed to get them to go back into the frame/tub far enough to slide them in. They're round, not rectangular, and their diameter is 3/8" more than the current motors width...

Should give me roughly twice the torque (i.e. power) and slightly more than half the speed of the White RS wheel motors currently on it...

It's kinda like a Power Trac, but the attachments are difficult to change and have to be modified to fit the tractor, or you have to modify the tractor, or you let them sit and you growl when you see the useless attachment. Also the attachments are all on the wrong end of the tractor and hard to watch when you are actually using them. It's a pretty obsolete device, but surprisingly still sold to some people for some reason.

Glad I have a Kubota and not a Kubotoa then, sounds kinda useless. ;)

Yes, you are fortunate. Mine was a gray market. Actaully it ran well and did it's stuff and had a lot of low speed power. It had two ranges on the gears and you could engage both low speeds ranges at the same time. I miss that low speed torque. Great for tree climbing.
