Hello group!
I just purchased a 60-in grapple rake for my Kioti 4510 tractor. The tractor already had the third function kit on it when I purchased it used. The front end couplers are the Pioneer poppet style (male and female). The couplers that came with the grapple were the flat face style. I went to Rural King and purchased of male and female Pioneer style couplers.
I replaced the flat face couplers with the Pioneer style and connected them to the front couplers on the tractor. I started the tractor and let it sit to warm up for a while and then tried to push the button on the joystick to open the grapple but nothing happened. I tried to push the button while curling the joystick and nothing happened there either.

I do not hear any change in pitch from the engine when I tried to activate the button and the front hoses do not move or jump when I try to activate the button either.

Is it possible that I purchased the wrong couplers although they fit perfectly into the tractor couplers? Does anyone have any troubleshooting help they can provide me?

Thank you,

Arnold

You may have an electrical fault in your 3rd function valve

You should hear the valve operate, even without hoses hooked up. I don't think your getting power. Check the fuse to the 3rd function. If its good, check the switch.

I don't know how but I have a meter and I'm going to give it a try. Do you put it on amps, volts, OHMs?

Volts to see if you have power to the valve or switch. When set on volts DC touch the black probe to ground and red probe to contacts on the switch.

With the engine off and key on, push the buttons. You should here the relays clicking.
The power supply on mine is a small wire in the fender area right of the seat. My connections were loose from the crappy dealer install and would be intermittent, usually as I was attempting to drop a load of brush onto the burn pile. Once I pushed the connectors fully together, it works fine.

Thanks y'all for the input. I did some troubleshooting and get power to the valve but no power to the 3rd function switch. I start the tractor and push in the right side of the valve with needle nose pliers and the grapple opens. I push the left side in and the grapple closes. That seems to indicate the valve is good. However, like I said, when I press the 3rd function button there is no sound from the valve.
The problem must be with the little circuit board that the wires go into and out of. The problem is, WR Long company doesn't sell parts to individuals, only dealers. I'll have to try and find a dealer that sells their parts. I'll post IF/when I solve the problem.

I missed that part. Well, there are dealers that do ship. I went with a local dealer who had to order the part. However, dealers like Messicks or Everything Attachments can order the parts and then ship it directly to you.

Hi Avenger, thank you for the post. So, does my diagnosis sound correct? I saw that part on WR Long, but didn't see any way to order it. I thought they only sold to dealers. Did you purchase the circuit board from them?
