I have some areas that are so rough that I can hardly drive over them because of the ruts left by some of the big trucks that have been through. Also, how fast can you run the rake? Questions, questions, questions!! </font> )</font>
Scott,
Grassy areas - I did have some patches of sod among the areas I was preparing, I just ran over them a couple of times and you wouldn't even know that they were ever there.
Ruts - I had some of those too. I had the guy that finished off my driveway take his bulldozer and backdrag the front blade over the ruts to break them up and smooth them out somewhat. I then ran over them with the Harley Rake and they flattened out real nice.
How fast - the guy renting me the rake said I could run it at full RPM like my finish mower but in actuality it depends how far down you set the rake and how much dirt and rocks you are dragging along. As the tractor engine starts to labor just cut back on the throttle and lift your 3 point hitch a little.
Following are some pictures of the finished project.
