It is one of the older Dearborn with 2 piece set up (moldboard and point). Difficult to find parts for this plow, However, the 2 coulters are worth $75 each and if the points are good now, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Ken Sweet

Thanks Ken I dont know much about plows. I take it when you say if the points are good you mean the points at the end of the shovels or plows or what ever you call them? It is about 100 miles from me and i havent got to look at it yet just the 2 pic's. Thanks for your help.

That's the problem I've had too, looking at plow pictures on craigslist or similar, the business end is stuck in the ground and you can't see it. Plus it's probably been rusting away for years.

Do you see any disc plows for sale? I like my Ferguson Dics Plow, it's one diggin SOB.

Yes, that whole rectangular piece at the bottom of the moldboard is the point or share. You can get on the back side of that plow and rock it toward you very easy. When you do this, the point will be visible for inspection. 2 strong men can load this plow manually, if no loader or boom is available. Ken Sweet

In general, tractors that pulled those plows wouldn't run long enough to wear the plow out. Now, if they had been pulled with a D John Deere that would be a different story.:laughing::laughing:

I restored one just like it last year. I spent a lot of time adding new parts and paint. It worked great until I snagged a hidden rock and then I broke three of the frame bolts. I replaced them and used it again and snagged another rock and broke four more bolts and bent the diagonal frame member and the J shaped main frame. In other words, trashed the whole plow. No, I would never buy another!!! I must say I was pulling it with a 70 horse Kubota, so I overpowered it, I suppose. Regardless, wait on a plow with trip protection so the occasional rock or root will not trash the plow. Now if you are pulling it with something small, and through nice fluffy soil, you would probably be o.k. I now have a three bottom Ford with shear protection, and it works a lot better. I shear pins occasionally but thats a cheap fix.

These type plows were designed to be pulled by a tractor that would spin out, rather than do damage to the plow. Trip plows are nice, as long as they are working correctly. I have 15 of those in 12-14-16 inch 2 bottom configurations. Ken Sweet

Ken here is a pic of 1 of the points he said other point looks the same. The tractor i would be pulling it with is a ct335 bobcat we dont have many rocks but some tree roots .

That point is showing hardley no wear. It is the old style. I would still lay MY money down for the plow. We just sold 2 coulters last week for about what they are asking for the entire plow. Ken SWeet

That looks like a dearborn to me, very collectable to the ford N crowd. I bought one ten years ago for $200 without coulters for my 2N. They are absolutely correct in that the tractor should spin before damage is done.
Mine worked very well, but you might want to use a ripper near those trees first and no 4WD!!!

Just a reminder, the Ford n's were rated at 21 hp, you are still quite a bit larger than that... Ya might want to keep it shallow at first, limits how much grabbin the plow will do. I still recommend ripping the heck out of it first.

Unless the undergrowth is knee high or taller, those coulters will take care of the sod. Plow on :) Ken Sweet

BB will work , lower the rippers all the way and shorten your top link up to get deeper penetration. The soil/grass/sod clods will gather up in the box though and you have to keep lifting it to clear it unless you let it flow out the top. I know i have tried ripping with the BB. Im bar dirt or killed grass it will work fairly well, i put a new flower bed in at the house ripping roundup killed grass with nothing but the rippers on my BB. Granted the clods were big in the red clay but it softened it enough to dig holes for flowers then was covered in pinestraw.
