Use a square and box cutter/razor knife to score the tin. It’s the tool that is used to cut most tin/stainless for flashing and other metal work, otherwise a floor or table mounted cutter is used (they look similar to a metal brake used for bending).I'm not talking about not being able to cut on a line, I'm talking about the waviness that happens when cutting with shears.
If you score it a few good times and your line is straight, all you have to do is fold the flashing and it will snap off. Use a new clean blade, run both directions if it’s a thicker flashing and you can also use the speed square to hold the upper portion down while you bend the bottom portion. Sometimes on thicker flashing you will need a couple bends to get that clean snap, but it works better and much faster than tin snips.
