Need input 2032, 3033, or 3039

Ok, it has been a while since I last added to this thread and I have a small update. I am no longer considering the jd2032, but I am giving very serious thought to the jd2038. My reasoning is that it looks small enough to mow the lawn. But large enough and powerful enough to mow the field. It also comes with some nice bells and whistles like a suspension seat, a drive over mower and good ergonomics. Though I have not ruled out a 3 series tractor, the 2038r may hit the sweet spot. I would really love to try one out but the local dealer has no 2038's on the lot. My timeframe for buying is about 18 months so I have time. Does JD bring in new equipment for tests? I saw that several people posted after I did so I thought I would revive the thread. Thanks in advance for your input.

I can't help much other than to say, the only reason I bought a 2720 in 2012 is because they didn't make a 2920.

Now they do but they call it a 2038R. Sure would like to trade.

Bigtiller,

At one time I thought I might upgrade to a 2520 or 2720. With that in mind, how do you use your 2720 and how has your experience with the 2720 been? Obviously I would like to get as large a tractor as money allows, and that may put the 3 series out of budget. I mow, bush hog, clear snow, grade my gravel driveway, move odds&ends with the loader and even do some logging with my 2305. The 2720 "might " be closest to a 2038 so I would love to know your experience & thoughts. Thanks.

My 2720 works 70% of the time mowing, and it workes just fine for that, not to heavy and plenty of power for the 62" MMM. A 5' ruff cut mower works fine for me but I only use it once in the late fall after the crops come out so the grass and weeds are easy cutting anyway. The 58" reverse rotation tiller and 54" snow blower are another story. They both want more power. It really is frustrating to have to stop moving to let the engine rpm's catch up to continue working. The 60" loader bucket with tooth bar has dug and lifted everything i asked it to lift, as has the pallet forks, as long as i had the ballast box on.

Bigtiller,

My jobs will be mostly mowing--finish mowing my lawn and rough mowing my field. From what you tell me, the 2720 works fine for these purposes and I assume the 2038r will work at least as well. I do hope that the larger frame will help negotiate the rough ground better, but I am certain that the suspension seat will do this for me. You offered me up some very good input, and I thank you for this. Other roles for me will be moving logs (hopefully with a grapple!) and grading/boxblading. Again, thanks much for the input as it really helps out me making my decision.
