Need opinions mon gas powered dump trucks

Not much knowledge or experience with a truck this size but here (flat ground) there are a good bit of gas single axle dump trucks. But with what has happened to the price of diesel compared to gas, it might be if they hold the way they have been and seem to, the fuel cost comes out to be about the same. Gas here is half what road diesel is.

i was exactly in your shoes a few years back. tried to find all the info i could on these trucks. what i learned is resale will suck for those trucks. they will be very slow and drink the gas on any hills. i test drove one and empty it felt great. very deceiving. i ended up finding an old'79 C65 and putting some money in it. it has the 366 gas engine and 5/2 speed transmision. this will be very important if you decide to go gas. being able to drop into low range with a heavy load is priceless. the auto is great but not made for heavy loads. with a single speed rear end they will try to split the gearing diffrence between the high and low gearing of a 2 speed. this means you won't get the better fuel milage when empty or have the better gearing when towing. to start out i ould find a good shape older truck and fix it up. with a $10,000 budget you should be fine and have an even lower overhead.
