Hello Members,

My wife & I just purchased a home with 6 acres of pasture & mixed hardwood forest land. Gently sloping with gravel roads & no fencing yet.

Our main use for the tractor is basic:

> Gravel & Dirt movement
> Road maintenance
> work in our fruit tree orchard and in our blueberry fields
> Hauling of firewood
> Fence work, etc.

We just came upon an opportunity to purchase a gently used 1999 B2150HSD 4WD with an LA350 FEL that has only 251hrs on it. The older couple selling it has been using it only to haul firewood and debri, on his 5 acre property, and they are the original owners.

They are asking $12,000

A local Kubota dealer says for about $2.5K more we could come buy a new B2410 with a FEL.

We are not in a huge rush, but dont want to pass on a good opportunity if this B2150HSD is a solid find. The extra $$ saved could go to some additional needed implements.

Your help & opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Paul

A few sites I’ve found useful in searching. You’ll find prices all over the board. Typing the manufacturer and model number on Google or Yahoo etc often brings up ad’s you’ll not find elsewhere. Also some good auction sites, but it can be very time consuming to find specific models. Often searching by manufacturer rather than model will give better results as some don’t get listed properly and never turn up in a model# search. I also search some of the dealers used inventory once a week or so.

If anyone has any other favorites that turn up good results I would appreciate seeing them.

Hi OGB,

Thanks for the link sites to gather additional information at. Much appreciated.

You mention that there may not be any 4WD B2410's left and that is an excellent point. Since they appear to have been replaced with the B7610. The sales rep we spoke with via phone never even mentioned that fact . . . he was more of the "sure, come on down, for only about $2.5K more we can put you into a new B2410 . . ."

Any feeling on the 4 cyliner vs 3 cylinder for this style of tractor? B2150 vs B2410

Thanks again,

Paul

Paul,
You won't go wrong buying the 2150. I had one myself and it is a very stout tractor. Mine also was a 1999 model and I had over 500 hrs. on it and sold it for $14,000. The price their asking seems good.

Not that it matters to your particular decision, but the B7610 did not replace the B2410. They were sold together, side by side, last year, with the B2410 being discontinued this year, along with the B2710 and B2910. These three models have been replaced by two new models, the B2630 and B3030.

The B7610 and B2410 are substantially similar, with the B2410 being a more upscale model, with more features, most notably position control on the three point hitch. There have been several posts in the last few months of people lamenting the demise of the B2410 as they liked the size of the tractor, but did not want to buy the lesser featured B7610. I can tell you first hand it is an excellent unit, but I have no exprerience with the B2150, so I can't help you there. Good luck.

Hi Bill & Tim,

Thank you both for you replies and feelings. Much appreciated.

It is interesting to me how quickly it seems that manufacturer model numbers and groups of like models become EOL'd or merged into new groups. A little (sometimes a lot) confusing for a new buyer like myself. It is also difficult to find a sales rep who is familiar with both the older & current prodcuts to help make a solid comparison (or contrast) between models.

Good to have a forum like this one to clear the air.

The gentleman with the B2150 sold it for the full asking price, so I missed my shot on that one.

I will be heading over to a dealer to test drive the B7610 and possibly larger models this next week.

Thanks again gentleman,

Paul
