Need starter for a 231S

I just purchased a MF 231S and all it needs is a new starter. In looking around for parts there are very few places that list the 231S but do list the 231. I know there is a HP difference but are a lot of the parts interchangeable?

Look up the part number on AGCO Parts book and do a google search . I think you will find out that away ! I also have a 231s and love it .

Hi Mackenzie. I'm lookin at a 231s and am not sure it is the year that the owner says it is. I'm just not sure that he is exactly sure. Can you tell me how to determine the year by the serial number? He sent me some pictures of some of the numbers on the tractor, but I don't know how this series of tractors was recorded or stamped.

Hello mackenzie welcome to TractorByNet.

A good place to start on your quest is go to www.agcopartsbook.com then log in as GUEST. Put in the manufacturer and model and look for the section which includes your model number. Then an index of areas which will display and one of those will have your starter in it. Once you have a part number then you can start calling tractor parts suppliers. AGCO's partsbook site requires Microsoft Silverlight add-on in Internet Explorer or you will not be able to view the scalable illustrations. Silverlight is Microsofts version of Adobe PDF. All pages and illustrations are printable. The site is a very valuable tool because it gives factory illustration right to your PC.

I don't know the difference between a 231 and a 231S but would think the starter would be the same. The partsbook page will at least show if the part is similar in shape to yours. good luck. -kid
