I have an old set of 2 link regular chains from an old garden tractor that I might be able to lengthen with some additional chain for the front if needed.
Well, that's what I ended up doing. We got another 6" yesterday (15" total) and I was able to make a few passes down the driveway (1/3 mile long) and she plows like a champ (although the operator is a chimp). Given my limitations before I got the chains on, I pretty much have myself painted into a corner. It seems like I can push it over the bank with my newfound traction, but I may end up putting the FEL back on for some scooping and dumping.
I have (4) 65lb suitcase weights on the front and it's not "kicking out unless I try to move the unmovable at an angle. Think I'd do any better if I moved 2 weights to the rear? If I put the FEL, I will move them all to the rear for ballast.
Couple of pics attached. I seem to have enough clearance on the front. I need better tensioners than bungee cords but I can pick up a set at TSC.

I have a BX2660 with loaded rear turf tires, weights and rear chains (two rib). Use a dozer blade for the first few snows, then switch to front blower. For rear weight I keep a 400 lb box blade on the 3pt. I have to say, that I rarely use 4X4, so I see no reason to chain up the fronts. :2cents:

Well, my BX2660 got the real test last night with 11" of snow. I have the Kubota 60" hydro blade on the front, Industrials for tires and about 350lbs in the ballast box. Tires aren't loaded and no additional weights. I do have a set of rear chains but wanted to try things without to see how it goes on my 2600 ft. gravel rolling drive. There were two trouble spots where the terrain is steep but this was mostly due to the ice storm several days ago that left in very slick under the new fallen 11 inches. Had to pick the blade up and come down slope to properly get those areas cleared but otherwise I'm more than happy with this mini-snow removal set-up.

I wish I could but a weight bracket on the front along with the front quick hitch and plow but that's a no go. I'm trying to figure a way to modify something up front to add extra pounds. May have to just opt for beet juice and wheel weights. I also just ordered a snow deflector for the blade.

Yea, the FEL is a god sent to me. I use a big walk behing JD blower. The Kubota with the FEL chews through the heavy wet mounds of snow the road plow leaves. I am running turf tires with I'm guard. My traction is so good I forgot to put the tractor in 4x4 or the first 30 minutes. I am currently working in 18" of snow and I am going back out to open up more lanes for the upcoming weather. Looks like we here in central Pa. are gonna get a real heavy snow winter. Oh how I wish I had a snowblower attachment for my tractor but $$$$$.

I have a B7300 with all tires loaded. Live in Wisconsin(snow country) and use a front blower. Have never got stuck or hardly spun a tire. Can't imagine needing chains. Just sayin'
