How are the aluminum Fords holding up?

They've only been around since 2015, so too early to draw any conclusions, beyond the fact that the body won't ever rust, but the chassis is susceptible.

I'm on my second 2.7EB truck, both have been problem free, and delight me on a daily basis. :cool2:

yeah mines three years old and I cant tell thats it not new. It wont rust thats all I know to this point.

the knock at first was panels had to be replaced vs repaired with steel, which cost more to do replacement. But since ford and many others have aluminum now the trade of repairing has picked up. To be honest though on a newer vehicle your going to get it repaired anyways, so my $500 deductible it is either way really dont care. Vehicles dont last 10 years with salt around here anyways so does aluminum matter IDK. but vehicles do rust in 3-4 years I have seen it. End of the day if its enough to take out aluminum it will do the same to that steel, Chevys commercial was bunk

Almost all the Tundras built are crew cabs that are either loaded or loaded to the hilt. Bring a heavy checkbook if you want one of those.

When we were looking a couple years ago I found a locally owned dealer with a double cab SR5+ 5.7L, pretty much exactly what I'd been looking for in the used market without success. I call it an old man truck- it doesn't have all the frills but it's got parking warning and rear camera, and the 5.7 with towing package. They'd had it for a while and were discounting it to get rid of it. The sales guy told me that they order a few of the unusual combinations each year just in case. It ended up costing a lot less than the F150 we'd been looking at. Fuel mileage could be better but it's no worse than the GMC I had and it does not seem to be affected as much by us living on a mountain as some of our other vehicles.

A friend was approached by his grandson, probably not even 20, who was asking that he co-sign for a hundred grand (give or take) loan for a new truck since he apparently got a job providing transporation services for a company.

What are is wrong with the parents who brought this grandson up to think owning a $100K truck as a kid is reasonable?

My 01 F150 has the floor lever. So far it hasn't failed to drag the tractor out of the mud in 4 low. It's just getting broken in - only has 190K on it.

I have the floor lever and Warn hubs on my 99 F250. They may have to pry my cold dead right hand off my floor lever being that I am not sure they make them any more in a new truck :confused3:

i have the switch on the dash never had any issues and im at 300K with mine at 17y/o in dec - i have 2wd hi/lo - 4wd hi/lo
