New 3 point Logsplitter, Can't say enough

   / New 3 point Logsplitter, Can't say enough #31
I believe the northern tool is much cheaper. limited to 18" logs but also alot less I beam sticking out the back of the tractor. It has been a great work horse for me so far...

Thanks for the advice Firefighter. The Split-Fires are made south of me, in Ontario, by a Mennonite man and his family. Given your advice, and the current low value of the CDN$ the Split-Fire is only $300 more for me to buy so I guess I have made my decision.;);)

I bought a used Split-fire 230 to use with my B3030. I haven't had it hooked up yet as I want to drain the fluid brom it and fill it with the same as the tractor. I hope to have this done soon. I am anxious to give it a try. The Split-fire will take a longer log.

Please let us know how it works out. I have a HR Long electric valve kit on my loader arm which connects to hoses that operate my bucket grapple. I plan to disconnect those hoses and attach them to a 3 pt splitter that I will on a stand somewhere permanently.

What would I need to hook up the hyd. to my b2710.

What is your current set up?

loader? 3 point hitch? Back hoe? rear remotes?

Once we know that we can tell you how to hook it up.

My 2710 has a loader, no backhoe,no rear remotes. The b2710 does have a rear hydralic block outlet.

You do have a 3 point hich correct?

I'm assuming at this point the rear block is not being used, Correct?

if thats the case then, you can make a loop out of the rear block, with quick connects in the middle and back into the block,

when using the splitter you tie in to ther rear loop, like a back hoe.

OR, you can extend the loop from the power beyond of the FEL into the forward hydraulic block that feeds the 3 point hitch,

I don't know the set up of the 2710, but I believe it is similiar to mine, with that rear block addition

I liked the looks of the Powerhorse. Splitting in both directions is real innovative . But if it doesn't come with a four way splitting head I don't know where the time is saved. It does not have a table that you can put collect the split pieces and put a FEL under to catch them and it only splits two at a time. Plus the tractor is in the wrong position to collect the split wood in the FEL! I still think the American splliter is the way to go! It even has the log lift so you do not have to go vertical at all. And with the big wheels you are not bending over! And the return is automatic so you have your hands free to push the four split pieces of wood into the bucket of the tractor.;) Then we just dump it in a one-ton dump. Takes about 20 to 30 minutes from 3 0r 4 20 food logs to a cord in the truck!

Oh, then I understand. I do like the fact that you could lift the TPH and drive out into the woods and split as you cut then haul it back in the FEL!

Good looking unit. A BIT high to be lifting those large logs.

What RPM do you run the tractor at? what diameter is the cylinder? what is the cycle time? Just curious...

What position do you have the bucket roll joy stick in to use the log splitter?
I almost was going to do that idea but thought I'd have to use the bucket raise/lower and place the stick in the "float" position...

I the tractor at about 1500 RPM, it runs smooth there and supplies enough fluid. I put a bungee on the joystick to hold it to the side, match marked the hoses so I always plug them in the same way. It doesn't cycle too fast but it will retract far and fast enough on the detent for me to pick up another log and lay it on the beam. The odd time it goes right to the end and kicks off so I have to run it back to the log but seems about right to me.
