I was using my Split-Fire wood splitter today and am very happy with it. I made a mount so I could hang it off the front on my loader so I wouldn't have to remove my rear snow blower. I had long hoses made so I could plug it into on of my rear remotes.

I run my tractor at 1200 rpm and the splitter works fine. It isn't fast, but because it splits on both strokes I could do a lot of wood in a short length of time. I increased the rpm but couldn't see any noticeable difference in the speed. The speed is lots fast for what I am doing and I feel safe operating it.

It worked fine on the front of the loader, but the loader did want to bleed down during use and I would have to reset it. That is easier to do than changing back and forth between the wood splitter and the snow blower.

How about some pics of your bucket bracket?

Got pats easy change? will make swapping that snow blower out faster.:D

I just made the frame out of wood to try as a prototype. It is a simple "A" shape with three eye bolts to fasten it to the three points for the three point hitch on the splitter, and another eye both on the top on the opposite side to catch with my bucket or plow blade hook to pick it up.

For me picture taking involves film, but I will get one of the children to take pictures and try to load them.

Yes, please do post some pictures as your design sounds perfect for my needs. A frame base made out of 2x4's are much easier for me to work:)

I don't understand your post:confused: Why can't you use a splitter with a dirty tractor? Don't you use other implements with your dirty tractor?

Who says the TBN members on this thread don't get their tractors dirty?

Here are pictures of the front and back of the bracket. It was made with 2x6's and 3/4" plywood gussets on both sides. The hooks hanging from the bracket are for hooking it onto my plow blade. One hook hooks it on the plow blade and the other hook goes from the frame on the plow to the hook that holds the splitter so the blade won't trip with the weight of the wood splitter.

Quite crude and elementary....I like it!!!:D

Nice job kubotafan-thanks for sharing the pictures.

Once I buy my 3pt splitter I will build the same design. It will be much easier for me to move the splitter around with your frame. I can easily hook my QD hoses from my bucket grapple to the the splitter.

Dang it..... Now you done it. You gave me the idea to get one of these northern powerhorse splitters too. gheesh, just when my wife told me to STOP spending money.

See what you made me do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I keep coming to this website, and i just KEEP getting more ideas.

Sort of like trying to find ways to afford fun stuff that doesn't make you sick, get ill or hung over or is illegal! wow.... who knew it was this good?

By the way..... STOP giving others the idea, Northern is just going to raise the price of this thing if it is so popular!

Firefighter Kubota
I ordered one today. Thanks for sharing the info and review!

Splitter in action to day on a large maple I took down for a friend, (ice storm damage) He doesn't burn, so all the wood was mine...

At 1500 rpm worked great. A piece or two of the really knotty stuff were a bear but eventually I was able to get them to burn able size...

Notice the trunk diameter...
