Deposit on JD 4110 (04/26/2002)-Delivered 06/29/2002
Hi guys. I wanted to give an update on my (kinda) recent JD CUT purchase.
Took delivery of a new JD4110 on the 29th of June 2002 on an order which was placed at the end of April. The original order was for a 4010 but no dice getting a build date. The dealer suggested an upgrade to the 4110 as he could give no date for delivery of the 4010.

He cut the difference for the upgrade from the 4010 to the 4110 by 50%, that over an already good price for the prior order. By the way a 4010 “dealer inventory order” was delivered on the same truck as my 4110. It seems all of the low-end 4Ten series are now available.

I ordered the unit with a 5’ mmm and 410 front bucket/ballest box.

As an aside the dealer was trying to install a Canadian made backhoe (don’t remember the brand) to a 4115 without much luck. They said they had been working on it for about 2 weeks.

On my pre-delivery inspection, the dealer, this being their first 4Ten setup, was having a problem mounting the mmm. A long diagonal bracket was giving the “set-up guy” a hard time. He said he mowed my machine without the bracket and it worked fine. He asked me if I “really” wanted the bracket, as it seemed it didn’t make much of a difference. I helped him get the bracket mounted.

Delivery day was exciting. Wife taking pictures, me feeling like John Travolta on the day he bought his 727. Except MY tractor was new, “Vinnie Barbarino” could only afford a USED 727. IN YOUR FACE VINNIE!

The dealer forgot to mark the bucket level indicator and I didn’t get the little thing that covers the mid PTO shaft when the mmm is off.

Well, with 17 hours on her, I really don’t have much to report. Yea, I know, you’ve had her for 2 months and have only put on 17 hours? The lawn is brown, no cutting there. Got a load ( 10 yds ) of topsoil, probably moved half of that. Can’t spread and seed cause no rain forecasted for the next couple of years. I have been able to fill in some low spots in a small field and move some stone that I could only have moved without her 15 years ago.

Built a ballast box dolly so I can wheel the box to the tractor instead of the other way around. Really, it’s been an uneventful couple of months. I puts the key in and she just goes. I’m very pleased so far. Ergonomics are great. Everything falls to hand or foot. Implements go on and off without so much as a pen knife. The grill and sides pop right off. I’m extremely impressed with the design of this machine. Of course only time will tell and it’s the stuff that you can’t see that will end up kicking you in the [censored].

Sorry for the dull post, but I hope it helps anyone thinking of buying a low end JD 4Ten series.
So, yea, I would recommend this machine. It’s just too bad that I couldn’t afford it 4 houses ago.

Best Regards,
CT Pilgrim.
