Ok, now you got me...! I'm gonna have to go have a long, look at the JD site and check out the 5203. I don't have any idea what that tractor is about...
Hp, size, transmission options --- nothin'??
How much is that puppy in the window...? Are they in the ballpark of the 4520-4720's?

If the current 5x03 and just discontinued 5x05 series are any guide, their pricing will be right around the same as a 4520-4720, which do seem to be about the most expensive CUTs made (though I think the Kubota L40's are intended to surpass in this regard).

I'm pretty happy with my 5303 and 512 FEL. It surely has been a big step up from the 9N. Now that school is out for the summer, I am finding a lot to do around the farm. If I could just keep my kids off of it, (not as passengers, I had to teach them to operate it) I might get to enjoy it more.

Chip, I forgot to thank you for your posts while I was tractor shopping. They helped steer me to the 5003 series, and they were interesting to read.

My lawn is brown, my new grass hayfield is dormant, and only my alfalfa is looking at all ok. Okay, let's be honest. Getting a tractor stuck, 2WD or 4WD, usually has more to do with the operator than the tractor. I'm as guilty as any in that regard.
Here's my situation. The 5103 is a great tractor and will do anything you ask of it. It's a mowing machine and does well grading the drive and moving material. No complaints.
What I've learned is that there are some things that I want to do that it would be nice to have 4WD. I have a small pasture by a creek that I haven't been able to mow in 2 months b/c I can't get my tractor back there w/out getting stuck.
Considering I financed all of my equipment as long as I could, trading up to 4WD really won't cost me that much more per month. I already am paying $40 over the minimum, anyways.
Plus, I may find a deal on a 5105.

This crazy weather here the last few years, it either rains and floods everything, or is so blame dry that nothing grows and have wild fires .The nice thing about 4wd, if you keep the mindset of stay in 2wd all the time, and the minute --- second that the wheels spin, stop , adjust load , put in 4wd and get the heck out of there and leave it for another day, usually will keep from getting in the situation of the picture you posted.

Back to the original subject, has anybody found any more info on the new 03 tractors? I'm really pondering a trade of my 5103 for a 5105 4WD or a new 5203 4WD. Anybody seen any pictures? Pricing? Specs?
