New 5003 lineup

As the owner of a 5105...

1) More gears would be nice. 1st gear can be a little too fast sometimes. I have never had a use for 8th gear. So if the 5203 has more gears, or at least more slow gears, that's good.

2) An early post said 4wd models would be fully synchro. That would be nice too. The 5105 can be shifted while rolling, but you aren't supposed to.

3) Looks like 56 engine hp for the 5203. 5105 is rated at 50 net hp but with measured 47 PTO hp it probably is making a bit more. So hp is probably a wash between 5105 and 5203.

4) 5105 was made in USA; old 5x03 series was made in India. Anyone know where the 5203 4wd is made?

5) Any other feature differences between 5105 and new 5203? I'm not sure, it's a question.

Here's what I can tell between the 05 series and the new 03s:

1) More gears, I think.
2) Same loader, 522.
3) A lot of "esthetic" touches. Different paint, owner's manual holder, a few orange plastic knobs, etc. Pretty to some, ugly to others.
4) Supposedly, a more "ergonomic" seat. (Probably just marketing.)
5) A different range of h.p. It seems that all companies are always coming out with machines that are a few h.p. off. Makes comparisons difficult.

Anybody have anything else?

Not to ask a dumb question, but how do you have one if they won't be shipping til January?

Also, do you know where these are made? Or has globalization reached the point where we can't tell any more...

To me it looks just like a 5105 except for the fenders and the abundance of green paint. Of course there wasn't that much difference between the 5105 and the prior 5103.

The only reason we have one is because we are the host dealership for the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Octorber and this tractor is going to the show...we can't sell it until after the show. These machines are built in India mainly...and the only way to easily identify them from previous 5003 models is the whole machine is painted green.

I tried (and tried) to use the JD configurator and "build your own) '03 series machine --- and my computer would crash and burn!

I used the Ag way into the configurator. So, I could not get any idea of the options and the MSRP for the tractor and the various options that will be available.

(Maybe I need to upgrade my browser... using Netscape 7.1?) Any info would be appreciated.

All this talk about the new 5003 series and now I want to trade/sell my 850 and my 1050, both of which are 4wd. A new 5103 with a loader would pull both my 12' finish mower, 7' finish mower and an old 8' pull type brush hog. Always nice to have new and improved. Has anyone found out where they will be price wise.
