New 5075M is at the dealer's!

Hello All,

I know you guys always like to see pictures: proof that your good advice is not going to waste. So, here is a first picture of my 5085M. I had the tractor briefly, but then there was a very long wait for the H260 loader to arrive.

The tractor has the 14.9R24 / 18.4R34 wheels and tires, just like Caledon Hills has on his tractor.

The rear wheels are Titans, which I think look very stout, but did not come drilled for the wheel weights that I purchased, this still needs to be resolved.

The larger wheel / tire combination really does make the tractor feel bigger, and especially taller. Because of the additional height, I am almost thinking that some Rimguard might be a good idea. My farm is mostly flat and rolling, but I do have some areas that have some slopes to contend with. Maybe some Rimguard could reduce pucker factor when on those slopes. The acid test of coarse will be to get out on the slopes and see how it feels.

The last thing is that, I was under the impression that I was getting the single point coupler for the hydraulics on the H260. I am out of town. This picture came from my dealer, but I don't see the single point coupler. Does anyone have experience with the single point coupler. The idea of cleaning up that connection seems nice. Any thoughts?

I wish you guys like the pictures. By next week I should be able to post some more with the implements.

To all of you guys who helped me make my purchase, thank you very much!

Those tires really look BIG :D on that tractor. The fronts almost look too big for the wheels. The rears would look even bigger without the fender extentions.

Have you had a chance to check the recommended ballast requirements for the H260 Loader? I would put Rimguard in you will not believe the difference in traction loaded tires make. Not that traction will be a problem with mfwd :D I would research how much to put in 40%? 75%?

Almost forgot NICE tractor!

 I wish! Mine has come! I'd grab a link but I'm on the phone. All these Ms is making the 5410 sad though;)

Martian,

Sorry, I have been away on business and got a little confused, but I did know you had already gotten your machine.

Have you trimmed the excess off those color coded zip ties yet? :D

pclausen,

I have not trimmed the color coded zip ties, but if they remain because I end up not getting the single-point coupler, I will surely trim them.

pclausen,

By the way, are you getting the single point connector? Excuse me if you have already told us in a previous post.

AKfish and Zebrafive,

Maybe one or both of you guys can educate me a little more about the single-point connection. It seems to me that having it would be a nice thing. I really don't know how often I will take the loader off of the tractor. I will be using the tractor for a lot of mowing, but the mower weighs about 1700 lbs, so it is possible that if I remove the loader I would then have to add suitcase weights to the front of the tractor.

From looking at the picture of my tractor, that connection point really does not look very clean or streamlined at all. The flat faced couplers and electrical connector on my Bobcat is very well protected and does not hang out at all.

Zebrafive,

Glad you like the tractor. :)

I have to tell you that the tires look even bigger in person. The front tires are over 4' in diameter and the backs are almost 5.5'. It may only be a 5 series but it is definitely imposing.

Anyway, with regard to the ballast requirements. I have not looked them up, but I will this evening when I have more time. Regardless, I have access to some other wheel centers so that I can use the four 95 lb. wheel weights that I bought with the tractor. I know that on this thread and others there has been a lot of consideration of Rimguard. I am not too worried about it leaking, but I have read that it can adversely effect ride quality. I am still not clear on that though. If I only put in 40 or 50% would that still effect the ride comfort and footprint of the tractor. I paid a lot more for those radials, and I would really like to get my money's worth.

Thanks,

I think it would be great, not sure why it would be a bad thing, unless it's extremely pricey. As long as it does what it says, I think it would be great.

More weight has only made the ride smoother for me. Think about when driving a big 3500 or F350 pickup empty vs hauling 1500 in the bed or 15000 behind the truck. Your ride will be a lot smoother because the shocks on those have such little flex in them that the extra weight will make it more springy like a car suspension. This same thing is true with the tractor, except a tractor has no suspension. THe extra weight will keep the tractor on the ground instead of bucking it all around. I have my tires full of calcium in the 5410. Calcium's definitely not my first choice now, but it was the only choice 12 years ago. I don't remember the exact figure, but it was a couple thousand pounds. I have lifted 3 large square bales at a time without the rear coming off the ground. Mind you this isn't the best practice, but I have to move them in a very tight barn where I don't have space for anything off the back.

As far as only going half full, that's a bad idea as well because when the air and liquid mix it will rust your rims. You should always either go 100% full (or just enough to cover the top of the rim) or 100% empty. Somewhere inbetween you will experience the same symptoms as calcium filled tires these days.

Yes. I'm also getting the loader suspension with operator/cab mounted on/off switch. My understanding is that the electric connection for this is also handled by the single point connector.

The electrical connection for the loader suspension will not go thru the multicoupler. No need for it to be dis connected, ever.

The Multicoupler makes it so much EASIER to connect or disconnect the hydraulics to the loader. Used to to stuggle doing six couplers, last two were always the hardeest, the other four were in the way and they seemed to be twisted a little different and not want to line right up with the female.

I 'd look on my purchase order and see if the multicoupler was included in the deal.

Mine is mounted 90 degrees to the loader mount. It sticks out 9 1/4" from the loader mount to the red release button. If I remount it turned 90 degrees parallel to the loader mount it will stick out 5 3/4" . I am looking into what it would take to turn it.
