New Computer Has Me Screwed Up!

Go to your desktop screen and right click a blank area. You should be able to do as I described. I have XP on my machine also. Unless of course HP has put some stupid thing in there to change it. The box that appears should say "Display Properties" at the top.

Jim,

I've clicked on both blank areas AND text areas, and it makes no difference. I still do not get a Settings tab when I open Properties. I just have the General tab.

Try this. Click the "START" tab left corner. Click "Control Panel". Click "Appearances and Themes". Cllick on "Change Screen Resolution" Then follow my directions for settings and resolution.

I get that if I go to My Computer and then Display. I haven't seen that screen come up from within TBN with any of the stuff I've been trying.

Is that where I would adjust settings to change this screen? I've checked out all of the tabs on the Display page, and nothing changed.

You can change the settings from display. You cannot change anything if you have TBN up on your screen. You can change it if you icon TBN to the taskbar by clicking on the left side tab on the upper right hand corner of your screen. You can also go to Start, My Computer, Change Settings and follow the rest of what I wrote out. Your description of tabs does not sound like XP.

Sorry Jim, nothing. When I click on Control Panel, I then need to click on Display. Once at Display, the Apperanaces is a separate tab from Themes. I tried changing both with some of the options that were given, and nothing worked. And I didn't even see anything that said Screen Resolution.

Do you have XP Proffesional??????? If so you may not have the authority to change the settings. Only the Administrator can do that. You will need to log on as Administartor to change the settings.

No, we have the XP Home Edition.

I did minimize TBN and then tried changing the Appearance and Theme tbas. Nothing seemed to make any difference.

This is frustrating, because I remember having to do this a few years ago with another computer, and it was a snap.

I also recall that someone else here on TBN had a similar problem not that long ago, but I haven't found the thread yet.

That is the same program that I am running. You should get the same screens that I get. I cannot get the screens that you are getting. I will try to mess with mine to figure out why you are not getting the same screen that I get.
