Thanks Jim. I appreciate your efforts.

I did find the thread that I was remembering. Someone was getting a half screen shot also, but his resolved by changing his preferences in his My Home to one of the options with smaller fonts, such as Kubota of JD. I already am using the JD smaller font option, so I guess that solution doesn't apply here.

I probably should realize that, though, since I have the same problem with The Golf Channel site. It HAS to be in some of the settings somewhere. Just need to figure out where. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Click on My Computer. System Tasks, Other Places and Details should appear. In the top box will be 3 items. Click on the 3rd line down "System settings". If you do not see this line. Click the little arrow in the upper right hand side of the small box. This will expand the box to open the 3 lines. If this doesn't work. Call tech support at HP. I give up. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Still nothing. I've changed resolution settings, which does increase font size. But there is still half the screen blank. It seems to me that part of the problem is also involving formatting. As I mentioned earlier, there are no horizontal or vertical lines on the page.

And we still haven't figured out how to get a picture of the screen posted so you guys can see it! AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I'm going to have to give up for tonight. I can't even e-mail HP tech. support because I've discovered that our e-mails aren't working properly. I hate to say this, but I believe my wife has this mucked up pretty good. She is the one who connected the computer up today and "supposedly" got everything working! Guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow after work! I'll check in from the office during the day to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

Jim and LArry (but especially Jim /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif), thanks for all your effiorts. I'm hoping that I'm missing something really simple, but I have a feeling I'm not.

Oh well, like they say......."This too will pass!" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would probably be able to fix it if I had it in front of me. But from afar it is hard when I can't see what I am working on. Call HP and they can walk you though it.

my wife did the same thing a while back. The solution was to depress "alt" & "space bar"...... when the box comes up, select "move" and then using the "up/down/right/left arrows", move the screen to the right. Then hit "enter" and it should be correct. I am assuming that you have the same problem that I had. No one was able to fix the problem until I called a friend that is a Microsoft XP developer/engineer. It even took him a few minutes to figure it out. There are many things in XP that the average person never knows about or has any reason to fool with. To this day, we have never figured out how my wife messed this setting up. Of course, she denies any responsibility... the computer did it on its own.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim...... with XP, there is a program built into it that allows you to remotely take control of his computer and it comes up on your screen as well as his. I only know of this utility, but don't know how it works or how you can access it. Possibly someone here can help with this. From what little I know about it, Golfgar has to give you access by giving you a password and log in information. I have been told that it is similar to PC Anywhere...

Found the information that might help....... From Microsoft Website..... web page
Note The Remote Desktop Connection software is pre-installed with Windows XP. To run it, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection. This software package can also be found on the Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home Edition product CDs and can be installed on any supported Windows platform. To install from the CD, insert the disc into the target machine's CD-ROM drive, select Perform Additional Tasks, and then click Install Remote Desktop Connection.

Do you mean the website only takes up the left half of the screen and the right side is white space? If so, thats the way mine is, and I have never been able to fix it.

If I sense your concern correctly, I don't believe you have any problems -- you probably have finally entered the world of a decent resolution on your monitor.

Do you browse the internet with the window MAXIMIZED? When you have a decent resolution (1280x1024, or 1024x768) you can stop maximizing.

TBN has a FIXED width for it's tables (somewhere around 760 pixels), so if you have a resolution of 1280, you will have 520 pixels that are not used -- so stop maximizing and start normalizing! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

EDIT: After reading more of the posts in here, I would suggest you check your TBN display settings (My Home > Display Preferences). I use Greys/Small Fonts as my style sheet -- you might want to play with those.

Junkman

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that when I get home. I would hope that I wouldn't need to try to hook remotely to someone else. That's quite an imposition, and besides, at the very least, HP should be able to figure this out!

Alan

That is exactly what is happening. If any of these solutions work, I'll let you know. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actually, I hadn't thought of that yet. I've been looking at system settings. I'll take a look at that too. Thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dave,

I guess I'm not sure what you mean when you say to start normalizing. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Yes, I guess I do keep the screen maximized so that the entire screen is filled with whatever program I'm in. Are you saying that I should be keeping everything in the smaller "Restore Down" size?

Oh, and Dave, I do use the smaller fonts. It happens that my current selection is with the JD colors and fonts, but I've used Kubota and NH in the past. ( Like I've always said, I'm color blind until I get my tractor!) Anyway, I've never used the selections that have the large fonts available.

And after all of this, I still don't know how to get a shot of the screen and post it for you guys to look at. The only Save As... feature I found was under the File section, but it wouldn't allow me to save the screen shot as a graphic. Any other ideas about that? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks for all the help guys. I know we'll get this resolved. I just hope it's before I retire! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
