Hoping for the rain to smooth out the dirt usually ends up working the other way, and you get gullies and holes. Get a log, beam, chain link fence or just about anything flat and drag it around the area you want to grow the grass. If you disk it, it will grow better, but for native grass, just toss out the seed and wait.

I'm going to put out some blue stem grass seed, I'm going to disk it this afternoon so I can see how much fill dirt I might need

Well, I disked the area and here are the results. Tomorrow I will drag a piece of chain link fence over it.

Well, We got a nice rain last week and it did what I was hopping it would do. So today I took out my homemade drag and used it to filled in the low spots and leveled out everything. It just took some time and patience, but the old driveway is gone.
