Guy at work here just blew his dodge 5.2 liter 2002 up. Dodge said sorry you get nothing from us. His quote for a new motor from dodge was $6250. Engine had 52k miles on it.

Another garage did it for $4000. So if the engine pulling power is the need make darn sure you have the right rig for the job. As was mentioned before. The delta was waisted right there when the motor blew.

Oh, I bought the Cummins engine and the Dodge came with it free. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm sort of a Ford guy in general, but they don't have the Cummins.

I gotta jump in here, and this is no flame job!
I have got to know ten people with 7.3 power strokes ( myself included ) and I'm going to start asking if ANY of them would claim 15 MPG at 85 mph. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
I will post the reply when able.

so what is the question or pont here? I do not get it..I had 3.73 and at 85 (maxed at 100mph) it dropped a lot . Normal is approx 18..again why ask if you have one?????? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I just drove the truck on interstate 91 south from MA to CT into hartford everyday for 4 years......no flame either just do not get the post.

I've owned 10 7.3 powerstrokes and towing a load never had one get 15 mpg going 85 with 3.73's and with a tailwind. Unloaded you bet it would, but loaded?? Not saying it wouldn't do it but I've never seen one that would get that kind of mileage at that high of speed.

yup, I never would go loaded at that speed since the truck stopped for _______.

I never stated load in any post..weird how a weight or load got brought into the equ.

I gotta agree with GSXR that if you don't need a heavy duty pulling and hauling truck don't get one! Unless thats what you want!! If you need it or not is another issue. Heck like anyone NEEDS an 1100CC 130 HP bike. It is what you want that counts.
If you are going to use it to commute from western Ma. into Hartford as its main use than you are not using it for it's intended purpose, but it will do it at a cost.
We have all known people that have had bad luck with autos and trucks and you can get stuck with a clunker no matter what you buy.
So get what you like and drive the darn thing! you will be the one that pays the bills.
But what do I know, Heck I still ride a Harley.

agreeed, and as the Grail Knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade said "But choose wisely..."

Ok then could you please tell us how we were supposed to interpret what you said here: <font color="red"> Even towing I never got below 15 or at over 85 mph.

you never asked what or how much (load) I was towing! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you have that maybe you have winter fuel, towing and driving like a bat out ............. But that is pretty bad mpg. Again I never got below 15 driving at 85 mph or towing over 8K..
