New fuel can comments.

I’m 6 feet tall and the filler opening is above waist height for me. 5 gallons of diesel weighs 40 pounds and lifting a full can up a trying to use a free hand to get the nozzle in the opening is difficult.

I’ve found the new cans are easy to get up to the opening but then take a long time to fill the tractor. The new cans are fast but when full it’s easy to spill the fuel.
thats why i bought this, (man did it go up) Amazon.com i put it on the steering wheel and don't need to hold it

I installed one of the old fashioned nozzles in one of my new fuel cans. It also had the hard plastic hard plastic screens that extended several inches into the can. I spent less than 10 minutes installing the new vent and nozzle and 45 minutes getting that plastic screen out of the can. It kept falling all the way into the can and I had to mangle it up to get it out. I did rinse the can out with a little diesel to get any plastic bits out. The plastic screen is to the right of the can in my picture.

Dodge man, Where did you find those old fashioned spouts? I see the box of 4 -5 right there, I could sure use some of those but can't seem to find them anywhere. Course, then my caps probably wouldn't fit them anyhow, but I'd still try some if I could find them.
About all I have available is like the red ended one you have lying on the shelf - they work but tend to chug and wheeze letting air get past and don't seem to really last long at all before they fail.
Thanks for a link?

I got them from Amazon. Just search for fuel can spouts. As I recall the entire box of them was about $12.

Our containers here are 20 litres. I only put 18 litres in each when buying diesel. I find that I don't spill any and my GC will take all that's in the container without fear of overflowing.

Okay, Thanks for the answer. I'll try some and hope for the best.
It's tricky buying spouts on Amazon. I'm still looking for a good one, and I have several that have been horrible. The flex ones are the worse, but the real issue is finding one with the same threads that I have that will tighten enough not to leak.

The ones that I've been able to tighten and not leak always end up breaking and then leaking. The crack were the threads meet the top of the cap. They usually last a few times, and one lasted all summer, but they always end up cracking.

As I recall the set I ordered on Amazon had 5 or 6 spouts. There was two threaded bases for each one though with different threads to “fit most cans”. That claim seemed true for my cans.

+1; mine came from tractor supply and lasted about 3 months.
