The trick to using the new style fuel cans is to get a good funnel. Then unscrew the contraption on the container and pour the fuel into the funnel.

I cut the length of the funnel so it's just going into my fuel tank a couple of inches. This makes the exit hole as big as possible. I also have dedicated funnels for each tractor and lawn mower, and keep it next to where it's parked. It's amazing how many options there are, and how the right funnel can make fueling so much faster and easier.

Go to gasspouts.com, they have spouts for every can that actually flow.

Could they possibly be making something more unsafe trying to make it safer? I got this fuel can a few weeks ago for chainsaw gas. Of course it dispenses fuel pretty slow which actually works ok for filling a chainsaw. There is mechanism you have manipulate that takes two hands to engage but I can live with it. What I couldn’t live with was the green ring in the picture which is a safety thing for holding the spout on. There are teeth on it that won’t let the spout spin off. There is a tiny thumb lever that is suppose disengage the teeth so you can take the spout off to fill the can, yeah right. I cut it off.

I tore all the guts out on the one I bought. It still pours a bit slow, but I don't need to press any buttons.

One thing for certain and that is... Every time a government agency gets involves with something as simple as a gas can, it always turns out to not be so good. The 'no spill' gas cans are all a joke and spill more than ever. I use the replacement spouts as well on diesel cans as well as gas cans and toss the 'EPA' approved crap in the trash. Totally useless.

Yup they have to try to make things idiot proof because of idiots and the lawyers in the country. A friend gave me a few little yellow caps that he bought on Amazon that you install in you gas can to give back the vent cap that was on all our old plastic jugs before. Now the new crappy cans work like our old ones did

The very next stop after picking up my last new 5 gal can was 3 feet away in the same aisle to grab one of these:

Don't know how many more fuel jugs I'll be buying in my lifetime, but I guess it will be this way from now on....
Absolutely. The perfect solution to our governments assistance. Those are available at Rural King also. Seem to be about the same price wherever you can find them. Money well spent.

I bought 2 sets of spouts from Amazon for under $14 ea. . I have 4 more in the shed. One of my best buys. The kit even has a drill bit to drill the hole for the vent that is included. This took care of one of my frustrations. The kit even has two different threads for the can connection. The two gallon can has a finer thread than the 5 gallon can. Love them.
