Looks like it is going great. That crew is fast even with the adverse weather.

Just read the full 9 pages, and the build is going very well. Can't believe y'all have got this much done despite the worst Winter weather we've seen in the mid-Atlantic in probably 15+ years.

Look forward to seeing it all the way through completion.

They got going around 7:30 AM and finished up right after 1:00PM. Cleaned as best as they could with the frozen ground. They ran out of light grey screws so I have to pull some white ones and replace next week. Passenger Doors fit great and they even installed the hardware. These guys were great. When I saw something I thought might need attention, I just sat back and they saw it themselves. Great crew and many thanks to their attention to detail. They are hungry for work and are willing to do more jobs in the Mid Atlantic area. Just ask and I can get you set up with a quote. They left VA around 3 PM today and it is about a 9 hour ride. I know they are beat. These are pictures until I had to head to work around 11 this morning. Final pictures on Monday if we don't get more snow or ice.

The trusses were set on top of the poles on 8' centers. When we added 8 additional trusses they had to go in between and sit on the 2 x 12's that were doubled up. If you look at my new pictures the SkyView still lets in more light than I imagined. The builders said that if they were spanning the 24" as originally planned, that they would have been pretty flimsy. With the additional board behind them, it really firmed them up with out a lot of bracing. He said it was a cleaner install in the end this way. (Not by anyone's planning.)

The stamped drawings called for the trusses to be set on 8' centers, falling on top of the posts. The Pole Barn Company uses a company in Ohio for trusses over 30 something wide because of trucking etc... The truss company has a plant in Virginia that made the ones I have in my building. I saw them deliver 18 trusses. I thought that they had doubled the order since the plans called for 9 trusses. When the builder started to put it up, he realized something was different than the plans. The company here decided that they should be doubled up or as I understand sandwich two together on the top of each pole. The builder said it was hard and in someways not really safe the way (using the bob cat and a pole vs a crane) he was going to set them. He had rather go from 2 x 4 girts to 2 x 12 girts and set them every 4'. If he had specified the building it is the way he likes to do it anyway. All the additional cost fell back on the Pole Barn Company. Does that make sense?

Very nice looking building. Wish it was sitting on my property instead of yours!

Followed your thread all the way through, Hcallaway. You have a real nice barn/shop/garage/building there. Enjoy it to the max and thanks for letting all of us enjoy watching the build.
