George,
Have you used this blower already last season? Or do you know how they perform?

Good to hear that Walco is making a pull type model. I have a traditional 3PT Walco Meteor and have been very happy with the quality. I'll definately consider the pull type next time around.

Clint/Turtro,

Didn't get to try the blower but the dealer says he sells quite a few pull-type Meteor blowers in these parts (to farmers, mostly). We'll have to wait until December before I can post my own experiences. My Dad used an older V-type pull-type blower for years and he was quite happy with it in general, even though it was only a simple single-stage type.

George,
I've never seen one of these in action so I'm trying to picture in my mind how
they work, apparently they must have a good front blade with some downward pressure to be able to lift the snow that has been packed by the tractor tires:confused: I'll have to check with some local dealers if they've ever seen one of these in action, my Kubota dealer had this dumb look on his face when I mentioned this type of sno thrower, so apparently he is either dumb or has never seen one of these implements:D

BotaYota:

It acts a little like a box blade. When plowing a gravel road, at the beginning of the season you ease out the top link a bit so that the blade doesn't bite too much lest the blower pick up stones. Later on, when the ground is packed and frozen, you shorten the top link and the blade scrapes the snow pretty aggressively.

George,

Very good, now I can understand how this type of snoblower works, the top link is the key.

Thanks,

Please post about it after you use it next winter - I'm sure a number of us would be curious about your results.

Zurakowg/George,
have you used your pull behind Walco snoblower yet this season...? If so
how does it work, I may consider one of these next season.

Nice tractor. I bought my Grand L 4240 three months ago and only used it today for the first time snow clearing. Great to use. Very comfortable. I've enjoyed converting my trucks plow to the skid steer. I also machined aluminum caps to go over the end pipes on the fel so it can be used for storage. Built the light bar for the top of the cab so I've had fun so far.

I think the only thing I don't like is the fact they don't have an intermittent wiper but I'll soon be rectifying that. I did a video on mine this morning. Enjoy your new rig. There a nice machine.

Clint:

OK, used the blower for the third time today and so far I like it. It leaves a nice clean, scraped road or driveway (no tire tracks). Today's snow was dry and it blows nicer than the wet stuff I had before. Snowbanks are a little tougher to do than with the regular back-up type or with a front-mounted blower. If the snow bank left by the county plow is not humungous I just straddle it and it removes fine. In the worst case I could visualize having to use the FEL to break through and then clean up with the blower if necessary. Will need more snow than we've had so far to evaluate this. So far I've done 12", 6" and 5" of snow. The only other comment is that a few more HP wouldn't hurt but I don't mind going slow. The CAB is just super - warm, comfortable and most of the time you're blowing snow to either side/rear at about 45 degrees as you move away from it so there's great visibility.
