This morning, I went to Bass Pro for a little practice on their indoor range; 50 rounds of .38 and 50 rounds of 9mm and I bought one of the UpLULA Speed Loaders; $34.99 plus $2.88 sales tax. It strikes me as a pretty neat little toy, not worth what it costs unless your thumbs are too weak for loading magazines. But since I have it, I'll use it.;)

Glock supplies one with every pistol, has for a long time, along with 3 mags now. Maybe not as universal as the uplula but seems to work fine for me.

Have you seen stripper clips and speed loaders for rifle mags ?

They've been around for a long time.
I believe that's how ammo is supplied to the troops, already loaded in the stripper clips

I've seen stripper clips, but don't recall seeing a speed loader like that in the video.

I really like the Uplula. On some guns loading by hand is not an issue, but Glocks and Springfield as well as one other maybe HK, the last two or three rounds are a bear.

Our male Officers didn't have as much trouble as the females, but on a really cold, long day on the range, mine got a workout from a lot of people.

My fingers are getting weaker and I shoot less, so it helps me quite a bit.

My P229 just has 13 round magazines, but yep, the last 2 or 3 do take some pressure to get'em in there. And I almost never shoot more than 50 rounds at a time, or have to load more than 50 rounds. But there's no doubt at all that my fingers are getting weaker as I get older.

I have two speed loaders for each of my .38 revolvers; the 6 shot and the 5 shot. But I'd never even heard of a speed loader for a semi-auto magazine until I saw your post here.

GLOCK has been providing the magazine loaders for many many years. Their standard capacity magazine (for 9mm) is 15 to 17 rounds. Those last couple rounds can be mighty difficult to load.

I have a model 19 Glock, and I find the 10 rounders harder to get the 10th round in than the 15th round in the 15 rounder. I think they were so afraid someoneone was going to try and sneak in 11 rounds when the spring got weaker from old age, they made it impossible. All Glock factory mags too.
I have some STI mags for my .40 custom built gun, (SV polymer frame Caspian slide, Wilson barrel, etc.) they are 18 rounders, but you can put 19 in most of them. They are very easy to load .

I've learned a lot from this thread. First time I knew such speed loaders existed, and I thought maybe I was the only one with fingers weak enough to have trouble loading the magazines.:laughing:

Maglula LTD also makes a really handy loader/unloader for the AR, it is much easier on the rounds when swapping out magazines for those who rotate their magazines.

My uplula speed loader just came in ($31 from amazon) and I can honestly say I dont think I would want to load more than one clip without it. It is fast and easy!
I also ordered 6 extra beretta clips from cdnn sports ($19 each) so I am ready for some range shooting.

donn12,

It is always good to take some safety lessons. Your pics on your first post show your finger inside the trigger guard. Bad habit to have.

Have fun, but be safe!

Finger off the trigger until your ready to fire. I don't speak from perfection, but from a guy that has to remind myself of safety every time I handle a firearm.

Every gun is always loaded and guns don't shoot, people shoot guns.
