New Holland Boomer 40 Tractor error codes

I have 140 hours on my tractor and have had a dashboard fault code s27 F08 which is a problem with the EGR valve. Sent it to the dealer, they cleared the code and couldn't get the error to come back. If the error doesn't repeat then the dealer can't repair under warrenty. I was a week without my tractor so I decided to check into clearing codes myself. YOU CAN'T CLEAR CODES YOURSELF. YOU NEED TO GET IT TO A DEALER TO CLEAR CODES. This is unacceptable. How can you work on your own equipment and keep it running if you need to transport to a dealer everytime you get a code to clear an error code. I love my tractor but this is a deal breaker. Does anyone out there know how to clear the error codes on my tractor. Looked all over the internet and everyone said the same thing "only the dealer can clear an error code."

I hear your frustration.

In a quick search of the internet, there are diagnostic tools that run on a Windows PC that appear they would reset codes.

The question is, at what cost?

Have you asked your service team if there is a tool you can buy from them?

If we were talking John Deere, I know for a fact they will not sell their diagnostic tool. Others seem to be changing to allowing owners to have the tool.

Another piece I saw was that New Holland has a remote device that can be connected to the tractor and the technician can troubleshoot via the internet. You might ask about that service and its cost.

My company makes diagnostic tools for Volkswagen and Audi brand cars. They are enormously complicated these days and without a diagnostic tool, repairs are really difficult. Right to Repair forced the car OEs to provide tools, making it possible for the aftermarket and car owners to repair their cars. However, the cost of said tools can be dear. Our company has been providing an aftermarket solution for a long time.

In my quick search, I did not find an aftermarket diagnostic tool for New Holland.

You might try posting in the New Holland specific forum to get better answers. We have a small LS tractor which is also sold as a New Holland but my experience with New Holland is really limited.

New Holland made me believe that only a $7,000 scanner which they will only sell to the dealer was the only way to clear the code. I have a Innova 3170RS scanner that I purchased from AutoZone for about $350. It had a lot of adapters but none that would fit my tractor (Boomer 40). The tractor had a J1939 female connector, so I bought a J1939 Male x OBD2 female adapter and plugged it into my scanner and it read the code perfectly. I haven't cleared the code yet because I want the Dealer to fix the problem under warrenty. I am sure that it will clear the codes, so I have solved my problem.
