New Kubota Decision -B26, L48? or ???

Serach my posts on L48s....I have 2 of them and love them :)

curtisfarmer and I have gone a few rounds about the L48. It is a great TLB - definitely heavy duty and industrial quality. If you take the BH off it is not that great for other jobs.

But I have the luxury of having other tractors to do those other jobs so maybe the comparison is unfair.

The L48's loader work is still impressive without the BH but ground engaging equipment and 3 PH tasks, like mowing, are less than ideal because of the transmission. Some folks, me included, have been disappointed in the gearing of the HST. Sure, the issues can be worked around but if you can afford the M59 that would be a definite step up.

Do a search for "L48" and see what you come up with and draw your own conclusions.

Parts for the L48 are starting to be hard to find since it is discontinued.

Bandit67 - Wow! That is some heavy duty work for your machine but it appears to handle it. I am considering the B3300 however the dealer does not have one on his lot currently so that is a problem in itself. It sounds like it does have possibilities for me so I need to keep it as an option. I keep going back to the L45 just because it's such a beast but at the same time know it's a lot of money. What bothers me though is the dealer states he'll make me a 'good deal' on the L45 in his lot which of course he wants to be rid of ideally by year-end however when I stated talking numbers to him, I didn't find his price that good. For example, there is a dealer advertising the same machine for $41,999 without any negotiations whereas my dealer is stating right now best deal is $45,000.

Again thanks for the feedback. I just know if I go for the B26, I might as well go for the L45 as the difference is not significant.

Tks.

Given your choices and limitations the L45 would be much more desirable than the B26 in my opinion.

Hopefully your dealer has let you play a bit on each. Until you get into the field the power of the L45 will not be evident. Then you'll be smiling evertime you climb on it.

On pricing, the difference is enough to go look at the other dealership to see what's up and what the tractor has or doesn't have to make that price difference.

If you not financing you should look at Barlows he has some used M59 for less money than your dealer quoted you. He also has used L48 and L39 as well.

Hi Kyle,

I have the B21 too and it is a workhorse, but for the bigger rocks and stumps I would like to have a larger unit... but dont "need" one - my neighbor has a CAT BH, excavator so they do the heavy lifting..

But for your decision I would lean towards the L45 or the M59 as I think the marginal increase in lift and digging capacity of the B26 over the existing B20 vs the investment isn't justified.

Tractorhouse.com has an L45, many L48s $20-30K and several M59 $40K and up used some with under 100 hrs for less $$ and they are in NYS so not far away.

Then on the dealer side, it depends I suppose if you are trading your B20 the fellow @ $45K might offer you $12K for the B20 where the $42K may be $9K in trade. But if all else is equal get the best deal. As to pricing on the B26 I thought they were $26-28 range? I suppose it depends on the equipment - forks, thumb, etc. Defintely get a new unit with a thumb and QA bucket.

The last aspect is storage/garage door height, the L45 I think is around 105"H and the M59 probably higher so as long as you have higher garage doors and space you are all set.

Have fun in your mission.

Carl

If going new and the L45 is only a little more go for it, but I guess prices are up in last few years as I got a B26 with all the toys for a little more less than 35k.

The thumb, qa front and rear buckets and front hydraulics are a must.
