New Kubota M6060 or New JD 5065E?

If you have 70 acres to mow get enough HP to pull a 15' batwing. I would shoot for 75HP at the PTO which equals a 90 HP tractor. Get a cab, grab a cold one, turn on the stereo, and relax while you shred. Get it right the first time.

As far as Kubota versus Deere lots of good advise here. I like Kubota for their overall quality and Deere in the larger tractors but not necessarily in the E series that is made in India.

For what it's worth my made in India New Holland Workmaster has been trouble free for over a year now.

Yes, I agree with you that you have more choices from Deere than with Kubota between these two tractors. Choices are great for the consumer. Thanks for pointing that out.

Man you have been drinking way too much green koolaid.

You are saying its better that the deere has the option at a cost of $2k (as posted by another in this thread) to get what the kubota comes standard with.
That makes absolutely no sense.
Thats like saying this standard chevy comes with a/c and this standard ford doesnt, But as a option you can get it on the ford for a additional $2k and that makes the ford better cause it has more options for the consumer.

The kubota shows the option of a 12x12 also on the linked comparison chart... if ya want to add that in the mix.

So you can get an upgraded 12x12 on the Kubota as an option and a price increase too? Sounds like what the Deere does that you were just criticizing. That is how your coming off.

That doesn't say built in USA only assembled. So where was it built? India?

We could argue the point on assembled vs. built all day long. Many manufactures do this Chevy, Ford, Dodge all bring parts overseas to be put on their trucks. One thing that no one talks about is the fact that more Americans work at the plant in India than any other ethnic group. Quality is high even if it is designed to be an entry level tractor.

that sounds fascinating, do you know how that came about?

I'm assuming that over some percentage of component value, a mgf gets to say it's manufactured here in the US.

I would think where the engine, trans and rear end are built would determine the country of build. Apparently Deere brings in the Indian engines and builds them in Augusta. Learned something new.

I was at the same point you were about four months ago trying to decide between Kubota and Deere with these same models. Four things swayed my direction towards Kubota. The first thing was the fact that Kubota uses universal skid steer hook up attachments for the front end loader. This opens up a whole world of possible attachments to be purchased used. Deere on the other hand limits you to only their style hook up. The second thing that help me sway my direction was the fact that Kubota overwhelmingly sells more tractors in the under hundred horsepower range then deere. This is supported by a short drive out in the country. Just take a look at all the newer tractors you see and look at the colors. The more tractors that are out in the area means better support. The third thing that help sway my decision was the fact that Caterpillar uses the Kubota engine in much of their compact construction equipment. The Kubota engine is a strong engine with a very loyal following. The fourth thing that supported my decision was the support I could count on by the Kubota dealer. A tractor in the 60 to 70 hp range is considered a large tractor in the Kubota world for now. In the deere world we are just a small pimple on their back. Who are they going to support a $35,000 tractor or a $300,000 combine when they're both broke down and need to get out of the shop? Your tractor will be put away down the line... Please keep in mind I was a very loyal and had a long history of running John Deere farm tractors. I just feel they really sacrificed quality and durability trying to compete with Kubota and Mahindra when they introduced to the E-series.

You can get the SSQA with the Deere. Just have to ask. They offer it just like everyone else. When my tractor went down, my Deere dealer had little ole me a road mechanic out here quick. If it comes down to me being shut down and a guy that makes his living exclusively with his Deere I would insist he gets helped first. Grass will keep growing. Crops will go bad in the field.

Both are good machines but in the power range he's looking, Deere is pretty strong. I hope he gets a larger frame than he's looking or else we're going to be seeing a thread in a year about wanting to upgrade and run a batwing.

I agree with Brett, around planting and harvest time, farmers come first and I'm completely fine with that. They should come first over a weekend warrior. It's like saying a gunshot victim has to wait on 3 stained ankles before they get treatment.

That being said deere will support you all the way down to a garden tractor, same with Kubota, to say one companies service is better compared to the other based on the equipment they sell is a foolish statement.

Deere does sell bigger equipment but Kubota also sells a 170hp tractor, every Kubota dealer I have seen around here couldn't handle service on a larger machine, there shops are too small so idk if they sub the work out? The local JD shop is a complex, they have about 30 acres with tractors, combines and everything in between, heck they have 25-30 each on the 1,2 and 3 series tractors alone, they really move the inventory in that place.

But there parts or service department still wants your business, they still have to pay the pit crew in the back lol.

My experience is under 40hp with the JD dealer, I went in there to have them price me a 3038E also order some parts for a JD 445 garden tractor and was treated just as good as a local farmer I know that happened to be in there. that farmer runs nothing but JD equipment, his biggest is a 250hp articulating tractor and he has 1000 acre farm, I didn't feel like he got any better treatment than I did at the parts counter.

As far as the "E" series goes, I hate them and will never own one in the 1-3 series range, I have talked to quite a lot of guys on here with bigger "E" series tractors and voiced my issues on the smaller "E" series and they didn't get the same opinion from the bigger tractors, so I would agree to stay away from the 1-3 family "E" series tractors, past that they aren't nearly built as cheaply.

My tractor came out of Augusta Georgia and has 850 hours on it. My 2005 4320 has a turbo charged 48hp 2.4L 4 cylinder, HST and is closer to an "R" series today. I have had Zero Quality issues so far but I wasn't the original owner.

I would buy the tractor that came out of the factory with the highest Quality Inspection, which as far as what I have seen is usually South Korea or a US factory. India factories were kinda hit or miss from the reviews I have read online from various brands.

Honestly I don't think you can go wrong either way, I'm surprised to read that the Kubota is superior in more than a few categories, in the smaller non grand L and the 3E tractors, Deere would be the winner for me, they both were within $1000 but the Deere was heavier, had wet clutch where the Kubota didn't and the Deere could lift 150lbs more on the FEL.

The JD Quick attach is a little bit of a handicap but hasn't held me back from finding used attachments.

I read this entire thread and got the impression many times that guys were pushing the color of the tractor more than the tractor itself.

I guess to simplify it for you, if both tractors can do the tasks you ask, I would look at weight, lift capacity and PTO power. With those in mind whichever one has the best local dealer and shop is the one I would choose. I don't think the Kubota will last much longer than the Deere or vise versa but when working you need weight, PTO HP and loader "full height" lift capacity.

You can compare and argue about the rest of the tractors for days which is what I did, I ran out of things to compare so I compared what rubber they had on them lol. All we're USA made titans btw (Kubota, Mahindra, Case and NH. Wasn't sure on deere)

No need for an argument! Simply define the words and I WIN!!

Sorry but assembly isn't building, I don't care how many of what group of people work in a plant that is an other country what really counts needs to count and if you want to say built in USA then it needs to be built here or simply don't try and use it as a comparison point or selling point. I don't accept this from Ford/Chevy/Dodge or Even Harley when they say only some of the parts are imported and wont accept it from Kubota/Kioti/Massey or any other brand. Build it here honestly if you want to say its built here or don't say it!

Also just because some Feel Good legislation inspired by some overpaid lobbyist who happened to put a lot of money into an election so that they could be allowed to LIE to the uninformed does not change the True meaning of something being built here or there so please don't insult us by using that line of excuse!
