Buying Advice New L3560 Limited and Standard Versions

As a reference, my Le was bought at 11% off sticker not counting the radio and QH thrown in. Sounds like the L4060 would be a good choice for you.

42K was the quote I got for my L4060. That was with a rear wiper, heavy duty bucket and shipped 220 miles to my property. Where the real numbers come into play is what the dealer will give you in trade for your tractors.
So I got my quote and it turns out my closest dealer has a 4060 in stock. I went down after hours to look it over and it really is an incredible machine. I'd be trading both my MX4800 and L2501 to get it though. After giving it some thought, as much as I like having two tractors, I'd rather have one really nice machine that performs somewhere in the middle of those two but will be a lot more comfortable from many standpoints.

I'm pretty much set on buying the 4060 over the 3560-LE. I just simply want a little more horsepower since right now I have an MX and as it is, the 4060 will be a downgrade in terms of loader capability and PTO power.

It's amazing how refined these things are though - quiet cab with heat and a/c, stereo, front / rear work lights, wiper / washer, electronic cruise, 12v outlet, tilt wheel, message center display, clock, etc. The HST+ transmission is impressive. I really like the auto-throttle feature; doubt I would ever use or need stall guard. The half-range shift seems really nice too.

What would be a reasonable price on the L4060 cab tractor? It has the 805 loader and R4 tires and seemingly no other options (no rear work lights, no rear wiper, no rear defroster, etc). My rep is telling me $42,xxx. Going on Kubota build and price, that appears to be window sticker. What is a reasonable discount?

Thanks. I'm having another dealer quote me as well to keep the first honest. Fortunately I have a dually truck and gooseneck trailer so transporting is no issue.

That's what I was thinking...I had heard you can generally get 10% off MSRP.

The trade-ins complicate it. Just like with cars, some dealers will 'puff up' the trade-in and give you nothing off sticker price. In this case, the first offer was sticker price on the new tractor, a somewhat fair trade-in offer on the MX, and a ridiculously low trade-in offer on the L2501. But I know this salesman, and after some round and round I'll be able to get a better deal. My trade-ins are both quite new and this makes it harder to sell because you can get a 'brand new' one with $0 down / 0% for 5 years. I'm willing to take a hit, but it needs to be reasonable.

I've never saw a "2 used trade in" for "1 new" that worked. You are going to give your 2501 to the dealer.

Trade the 4800. Sell the 2501.

No, I'm not going to give the 2501 to the dealer. I've already made that clear to the salesman. I already turned down his first offer. If he cannot offer a reasonable price for the 2501, which is only 6 months old, then I won't do the deal. He knows that.

I'm not stupid, I know exactly how this works. I buy a new pickup once a year. The dealer needs to be able to put a selling price on the L2501 which is enough less than the new price (and it's 0% financing) to tempt a buyer. They also need to give me less than that price in order to make a profit and have haggle room. The question becomes, what is that number that is fair for everyone. My 2501 had a sticker price of $22k as configured. At the typical 10% off, a brand new one would go out the door for $20k, and 0%. So how low does the price need to be to get somebody to buy a tractor that looks and functions brand new, is only 6 months old, fully warrantied, but won't come with 0% financing? Nobody is going to buy mine for $19k when they could get the brand new one for $20k. But surely someone would buy mine at $16k, probably $17k. The I understand the dealer cannot give me $16 or $17k because they need wiggle room and profit. Their offer to me was $12k. I told them $15k minimum. This is a nearly new tractor, and one "upside" is that it has $350 worth of Bro-Tek aluminum rear spacers installed, and the 50-hour service was literally just completed, so there's a little money there as well. The break-in period is over...they can run it hard right from the get go. And the bucket has been used maybe once, and never to dig...just to carry. No marks on it.

So, is the dealer willing to give me $15k and only make $1-2k profit? Well, they will likely price it at $18k or $19k. Even if they sold it at $15.5k, they just made $500 on top of what they will earn selling my other tractor and what they will earn selling me the new tractor. Now, some people might say I'm a fool for trading at $15k..."giving it away." But that isn't the case, because I also took advantage of Kubota's 0-down, 0% new tractor program. A $20k loan for 5 years at 0% is a $330 / mo payment. I've made 5 payments...so about $1600. In the 50 hours I've had the tractor it alone has earned more than twice that amount. And from the dealer's perspective, they have the opportunity to make a nice profit if they can find the right buyer.

Nice lengthy explanation. Good luck with your trade.

Looks like this deal is going to move forward. The dealer is going to give me the $15k for the 2501 and a fair value on the MX4800, and came down a little (but not as much as I'd hoped) on the MSRP of the 4060.

Still, it's what I want, and I'm not losing money, so I'm OK with that. Financing is being processed today or tomorrow and I've been told the tractor will be ready for me to pickup no later than 10/25/19. I'll post pics when it arrives.

Thanks for the help and advice received.

Can't believe I never followed up. I've had the tractor for a couple of months now.

Turns out my dealer threw in the rear work lights, radio, and rear wiper as part of the deal. I had already ordered all this stuff online and had to send it back. There is no Kubota branded radio, so the dealer can really install whatever they want. Happily they chose a Jensen Heavy Duty marine grade radio with AM/FM/CD player, plus the NOAA Weatherband tuner; it has streaming Bluetooth so I can play music off my phone and take calls in the cab hands free. It also has a USB port for music or charging, and it connects to an app on my phone which functions as a remote control. I like the radio a lot.

Disappointments? Biggest gripe is the standard suspension seat. It has a ton of travel, but me being 6'5" and 260lbs, it collapses under my weight, even fully turned up. I even had a couple of other friends try who are a little lighter than me. A 230lb guy, 6'7" also collapses the seat. My 200lb buddy - works great. My dealer says the fix is to order a $1000 air seat. I can use it as is, but basically zero suspension. I plan to remove the seat and see about replacing the springs.

As Fallon said, the work lights aren't that bright. They do offer usable light, just not a lot. They are H3 bulbs. I ended up doing an HID conversion inside the stock halogen housings. The H3 HID bulb has a similar light pattern and is able to use most of the stock reflector. I removed the roof and installed the ballasts in the area where the wiring harness runs. The new setup looks stock and throws a ton of light...and has zero radio interference. The rear work lights are adequate in my opinion.

The primary use of this machine is flail mowing. Because I got it so late, there was no opportunity to try mowing with it. Hopefully it has adequate power for my 72" flail in tall grass. Otherwise, I've done a little loader work with it and now a fair bit of snow plowing.

The engine takes quite a while to heat up in the cold. Once inside the cab, your breathing will steam up the windows very quickly. There are 8 HVAC vents in the roof; 4 are designed for defrosting the front windshield and side doors. The other 4 are for cooling the operator but can be aimed back towards the rear glass. It takes forever for the rear glass to defrost and I'd recommend getting the rear electric defroster (which also requires an alternator upgrade) if you work in the cold and snow a lot. I wish mine had these features. A block heater would give you heat faster. Mine doesn't have this either, but adding one is only about $70 so I'll likely do that. Not all the vents blow the same volume of air, which is somewhat strange. Once warmed up, the heat can drive you right out, which is nice. The HVAC controls are nice, with 4 blower speeds, nice hot/cold mixing control, A/C on-off, and recirculating.

The front wiper is useful. I wish there was an intermittent setting. The washer also works good. I plowed quite a bit with it yesterday and used the front wiper a fair amount. However, despite working during the snowstorm, I never needed to use the rear wiper. No snow or water seemed to stick to the glass. It might be useful working during a heavy rainstorm, but I don't see much of a use for snow. The rear wiper also has a washer, but it doesn't work very well because it sprays only at the far reach of wiper travel.

This is a very nice, premium machine and you can see and feel it. I think it is worth the money.

For those contemplating a 3560 Limited, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The large LCD display on the dash is very nice, the instruments are nice. The steering wheel has a nicer grip feel than most. The tilt works great. The H-DS is maybe the best feature. The need to operate in low almost doesn't exist anymore, and linked throttle is nice.

The cruise control is nice, but doesn't work in linked throttle mode. Otherwise, nicest cruise I've ever used.
