I see you had a 3700 before you jumped to the 5100 - that is what I am currently in the process of doing. I have the 5100 ordered and am waiting on it. I was wondering what did you notice between the two and are you glad you got rid of the 3700. I really like my 3700 except it just does not have the lift I need and the 3pt jumpiness is a pain.

Where are you buying your MX5100 from and did they treat you fair on the trade in?

Good luck with new machine bud!! I am pumped as well, I just traded in my l4400, and getting my mx5100 delivered tomorrow, cant wait. Only had the 4400 for about 5 months, then fell in love with the mx my dealer had on his lot, he cut me a great deal and that was it.

What's the major difference between the two that made you trade up?

For me it was simple. I just needed something a little bigger with more HP to run a 300 Gallon airblast sprayer. My first thought was an L4400 but when I went to the local Fair in September I saw the MX5100. I only have 25 hours on the MX5100 and I only needed to use the sprayer once so the experience is limited so far. We calibrated the sprayer to the MX5100. The sprayer has a 32" fan with adjustable pitch blades. The MX5100 handles it but it takes everything it's got. My orchard is relatively small, and my trees are semi-dwarf so I can make it work. In hindsight the 7040 would have worked much better. I'll see how things go next summer.
The L3700 was a great machine and I liked it alot. This sprayer is a beast. Remember you have to haul 300 gallons of liquid plus the weight of the rig. It has a 20 gpm pump that puts out 300 PSI. I am applying 100 gallon of chemical per acre thru 4 nozzles per side. The fan has a two speed gearbox and the tractor can't make 540 RPM with the fan in high gear. I got acceptable coverage with the fan in low gear and running the tractor in low range at 2-1/2 mph. If you think this is complicated you should see what I had to learn about the spray nozzles. I just wanted to do a little farming and I have learned more about chemistry, physics, and mechanical engineering thenI ever wanted to know. Geesh is life complicated. I am considering adding another 1000 peach and nectarine trees in the future which will give me 3000 trees. If I do that I will probably end up with a 7040 with a cab.

Right now the MX5100 is sitting out in the barn with a new 84" FFC front HYD. angle blade attached. I am using my 60" KK tiller as ballast. I also put
(4) 70# plates on top of the tiller which gives me almost 900 lbs of ballast. I am thinking about adding chains, but I figured I would see how it goes as is first. I have 4 driveways to maintain on my road but there is no snow in sight.

I am getting it from Barlows and they have been very fair (with the trade and pricing) and helpful through out the entire process. I am now looking forward to it being delivered next week!

Code54, I remember getting my MX5100 a year ago from Barlow's and have been extremely happy with the tractor and Barlow's every since. Enjoy getting the new tractor!!

The MX5100 really provides a lot of bang for your buck, a value machine. After 4 months and 70 odd hours I am really appreciative of what the tractor can do. It's not for everyone, but for the ones of us that are within the niche for it we seem to be a happy lot for the most part. A good dealer is sort of the icing on the cake. The power for the machine seems to be a perfect match. Some tractors seem to be slightly underpowered (I am not speaking soley about Kubotas.) and others overpowered. My experiences with the 5100 reinforce the proper matching of power to size and weight. And, like all Kubotas that I am familiar with the engine is a gem. I hope the 5100 gives me as many years of trouble free operation that my L2900 did. No seat time here today as it is cold and rainy and the ground is super saturated, we have already set a record for rainfall this year and we are expecting more. Maybe I should shop for an amphibious tractor!

i also have an Mx5100. I have about 160hours on it and it hasn't missed a beat. I have a 2.5 mile driveway/road that winds up over a mountain that I have to maintain. We got 265" of snow two yrs ago when I bought my Kubota. I had no choice, had to upgrade right then.
I slapped my 64" 3pt snowblower on it and went at it getting my road open from the 50+ inches we got the previous day. unfrtunately I had to really work the tractor to blow all that snow so a breakin period didn't happen as I would have liked.

I do have a couple gripes about the tractor, for instance, if you are gonna do ANY fEL work at all you need the tires loaded at a minimum. If not, it is down right dangerous.

And not a big fan of such a high RPM to acheive 540 on the PTO but I found I don't have to rev it that high for most of my implements tobe effective anyway.

Also, why in the world did Kubota put the diff lock under your right foot? When using it you can not use the gas pedal at the same time which forces you to use the "cruise control" lever which gets a but hairy at times when you are in a tight spot.

One quick word about Kubota Dealerships. like i said, I boughtmine out of necessity and I needed it that very next day. I called around and Messicks had my new tractor to me that very next morning. Messicks is 3+hours from my home and the roads were terrible but they came through and delivered it right when they said they would. They knew I was in a tight spot and really went out of their way to help me out. In turn I will be buying my next tractor from Messicks for sure.....

I purchased my MX in August of this year and the differential lock is now on the left, so they wised up and put it where it should be. Ahtough you virtually have to stand on the lever to make it work. I love my MX, but they still have the brakes on the right above the HST pedal which unless you are using cruise control makes it virtually impossible to use differential braking. Kubotas are great machines and I have been a user and fan for 14+ years, but they are not perfect. I think they HST has sort created a cunundrum for Kubota ergonomically. I suggest they put the clutch on the right side and the brakes on the left, maybe for the next series they will.
