WoW - I've never been in to the Denali Lodge. You take the Maclaren River road - west from Paxton. Its 36 miles to the Maclaren R. From there you will get on the Denali Lodge "tour busses" that make the final leg into the lodge. I've hunted the Maclaren R area for caribou many times.
The ratio of men to women has always been skewed in AK. Outside the cities - it's a tough existence. Many women like their pleasures. Don't take well to bathing in the stream when SUMMER water temps are 34F. Think log outhouses are crude. Can't tolerate moose or caribou meat all year. Get lonely when only get 1 or 2 visitors thru the entire summer. But it's the loooong, pitch black, bitter cold winters that take their toll.
Think about this - - it's -50F outside, your only companion on your trip to the outhouse - the Northern Lights. Your hope this time - your hinney won't freeze to the seat and you won't have to BELLER for help. This tends to discourage most women.
Alcoholism & suicide are common in AK. Alaska has the highest adult mortality rate of all 50 states.
