Rear Blade New Rear Blade!

A couple of the local hardware/farm supply stores have some King Kutters that are reinforced on the back with some ribs. They look like they would hold up well.

I bought a KK 5' finish mower in 2004 and it was junk. I paid $900 for it new and by the time I sold it to some fool I had spent another $500 in fixing/maintaining it. It literally broke a weld, spun a bearing, had a flat, broke a bolt, shredded a belt, ect every other time out. I bought a new Caroini this spring and it did not miss a beat mowing my 3 acres. Not one adjustment, broken part, down time, ect. It was well worth every cent.

it was the economy line of king kutter blades, but my gosh, skimming a steel blade along a pine board, causing that kind of damage, makes you wonder if these blades are just meant to sit around looking pretty, or if they should be able to be used for what a guy buys em for, WORK!!! i try to use all my equipment in a way, that gets the job done, but at the same time does not abuse my equipment, and this was definitely the case in this situation. i could see it if i had really hit something substantial, but a board? gimme a break. anyway, lesson learned on my end. good luck guys

Of all of the KK blades I've seen at TSC or the local supply store, I've yet to see a pretty looking one. Chipped and weathered paint, rusty spots etc... The first time I saw them, I thought they were used.

Not to pick on the KK brand, but you pretty much get what you pay for. Sometimes, like in the case of their tillers, you get a little more, and sometimes you get a little less. Overall I think they have proven to be a pretty good low-end (and low-priced) line of products. We have a rotary cutter that has held up fantastically well.

In this case, I have to say from the photos that the frame, both at the 3-pt and behind the blade looks pretty decent. I would however be concerned about bending the blade with any heavy use. It has very little curve to it and absolutely no support at either the top (such as a complete 90 degree bend) or at the bottom.

Timberman, hope you enjoy your blade.

As to the person who had a KK to bend, nope he is not the only one who bought a bad one. Mine was not the light weight model either. Guess he picked up the problem with them, they seem to hold up well when nothing sudden in the load such as the board. Seems a reasonable shock load damages them. When I buy a blade of larger HP than the tractor is should be safe.
